Birth of Yamato

In the beginning, there was only silence. The heavens and the earth were not yet divided, the seas and the skies not yet born. All was a shapeless chaos — a great swirling void of shadow and light.

From this formlessness, the First Generations of Deities emerged. They were beings of pure essence, without partner or form, rising like sparks from the primordial sea. The eldest among them brought order to the void: separating Heaven above, the Celestial Island of Seihō, from Earth below, the sleeping soil of Yamato. Where light rose, the heavens spread vast and clear; where heaviness sank, the land began to take root.

The First Three Generations, revered as the Elder Council of Heaven, withdrew into Seihō after shaping the laws of balance. They remain to this day, silent guardians and judges of divine rule.

When the world was still incomplete, the Seventh Generation was born: Izanagi, the god of creation, and Izanami, the goddess of life and death. Unlike the formless elders, they walked with bodies radiant and beautiful, shaped by purpose. To them was given the sacred task: to finish what the first gods had begun.

Standing upon the Celestial Bridge, Izanagi and Izanami gazed upon the sea of mist and waves. With a jeweled spear of divine crystal, they stirred the waters, and from its droplets fell the first land. Thus rose Onogoro, the First Island, now known as Hoshikusa - integrated into the overall landmass -a place of sacred soil where they set their feet. From there, they shaped the mountains and valleys, the rivers and seas, forests and plains, each act breathing more life into Yamato.

Where Izanagi’s hand struck the earth, stone and strength emerged. Where Izanami’s touch lingered, fertility and growth blossomed. Together they called forth the winds, the rains, and the breath of all living things. From their union came the gods who would embody the sun, the moon, and the storms, as well as the countless spirits that dwell in every grove, stream, and mountain.

Thus the land of Yamato was born: a world balanced between heaven and earth, life and death, chaos and harmony. The Elder Council of the First Generations oversees the divine order, while Izanagi remains foremost among them as the god of creation, bound forever to the land he helped shape.

To this day, the people of Yamato believe every stone, tree, and wave carries a spark of that first divine act. The world itself is a sacred gift, and all who walk it tread upon the legacy of gods.
