Kirin Steppe
The Kirin Steppe
To the east of Yamato stretches the Kirin Steppe, a breathtaking ocean of rolling hills draped in flowers of every hue. Their petals carry potent healing properties, harvested carefully by wandering herbalists, while rare minerals and glittering crystals lie hidden beneath the fertile earth. The vast horizon is alive with motion: sacred herds of Kirin, luminous creatures said to be born from starlight, roam freely across the fields. Their presence blesses the land, ensuring abundance, balance, and prosperity.
The Steppe is far from desolate—it pulses with life, laughter, and rivalry. Two great peoples call it home: the fiery Oni, dwelling in their vibrant forest village of Akumatani, and the steadfast Okami, who run with the wind in their village of Inukaze. Though their ways are wildly different—chaos against order, revelry against discipline—they share the land in a rivalry that is more often joyous than hostile. Each respects the other’s strength, and together they guard the steppe and its roaming Kirin from poachers, yokai, or ambitious mortals seeking to claim its wealth.
By day, the Steppe gleams like a boundless sea of blossoms under endless skies. By night, the flowers themselves seem to glow faintly, as if lit by the stars, while the Kirin’s hooves spark trails of pale fire across the hills. It is a land of beauty, spirit, and strength—both wild and harmonious.
