@New Hearthglen is a heavily fortified harbor town located along the icy, southern cliffs of the Dragonblight in @Northrend. It was established by the Scarlet Onslaught—a massive naval expeditionary force composed of the remnants of the fanatical @Scarlet Crusade who fled the @Eastern Kingdoms under the guidance of High General Abbendis. Driven by visions of a holy crusade in the frozen north, Abbendis ordered the construction of this harbor to serve as the Onslaught's primary beachhead, naming it after their lost ancestral stronghold of @Hearthglen in Lordaeron.
Built to resemble a traditional Lordaeron military settlement, @New Hearthglen features a sprawling timber-and-stone keep, heavy ballista towers, an abbey dedicated to their zealous interpretation of the Holy Light, and a bustling lumber mill. Its heavily guarded harbor allows the Onslaughtto anchor their fleet, providing a direct supply line into the harsh Northrend wilderness.
Despite its formidable defenses, @New Hearthglen is defined by isolation and simmering madness. High General Abbendis’s visions were not sent by the Holy Light, but were instead the psychic manipulations of the dreadlord Mal'Ganis, who operated in the shadows to lead the zealots to their doom.
The fanatical inhabitants of the town view all outsiders with violent paranoia, executing any Horde or Alliance scouts who approach the perimeter. Currently, both the Alliance and Horde coordinate with local groups, such as the 7th Legion or the @Knights of the Ebon Blade, to launch covert infiltration missions into the town, seeking to assassinate Abbendis and dismantle the Scarlet Onslaught before they can destabilize the broader war effort against the @Scourge.
