Shattrath City: A Beacon of Light

@Shattrath City stands as a monumental, ancient Naaru stronghold nestled within the heart of @Outland's Terokkar Forest. Long before the destruction of the world, @Shattrath City was the grand capital city of the exiled @Draenei. Its name translates to "Dwelling of Light" in their native tongue, serving as a pristine cultural, mercantile, and spiritual hub where the @Draenei lived in a fragile peace alongside the native orcs.

This glorious era came to a horrific, bloody end when the demon lord Kil'jaeden corrupted the @Orc clans, uniting them into the bloodthirsty Old Horde. Under the direct command of Warchief Blackhand, the demonic @Orcs launched a massive, catastrophic siege on @Shattrath City. Despite a desperate, sacrificial defense by the @Draenei Rangari and Vindicators, the city was utterly crushed, its beautiful spires toppled into ash, and the vast majority of its population systematically slaughtered. The hollow, ruined shell of the city was left abandoned to the wild, lingering ghosts and mutations of the blasted world.

The Return of the Naaru: The Sha'tar

The modern rebirth of Shattrath City is a miraculous testament to cosmic intervention. Years after the planet was torn apart into the floating continent of @Outland, a powerful faction of geometric, crystalline entities of pure holy light known as the Naaru arrived on the shattered world. Led by a prime Naaru named A'dal, this specific group—known as the Sha'tar (meaning "Born of Light")—claimed the ruined city.

Utilizing their immense holy magic, the Sha'tar erected a massive, shining beacon of energy over the city, slowly rebuilding its ancient white terraces and clearing away the rubble. Hearing the call of the Light, a tragic populace of Broken (mutated @Draenei survivors led by Nobundo and @Akama) and Aldor (surviving @Draenei priests) emerged from hiding, flocking to the city to rebuild their civilization under the protective gaze of A'dal.

The Unexpected Defection: The Scryers

As the reconstruction progressed, a massive military vanguard of @Blood Elfs under the command of @Kael'thas Sunstrider marched upon the city. Sent to conquer @Shattrath City for Kael'thas's master, @Illidan Stormrage, the @Blood Elf forces surrounded the lower terraces.

However, before the order to attack could be given, the vanguard's commander, a high-ranking magus named Voren'thal, had a profound spiritual epiphany upon seeing A'dal. Voren'thal ordered his forces to drop their weapons and marched into the central dome, pledging his entire army's fealty to the Naaru. This mass defection permanently fractured @Kael'thas Sunstrider's army. Renaming themselves the Scryers, these @Blood Elfs were granted asylum within the city, establishing their own tier opposite their historical rivals.

A Fractured Sanctuary of Neutrality

Currently, as the @The Dark Portal has freshly opened and the heroes of the Horde and Alliance pour into @Outland, @Shattrath City serves as the definitive, neutral sanctuary of the shattered realm. Because the Naaru's singular, cosmic focus is the total eradication of the @Burning Legion, A'dal has declared the city a safe haven for all mortal races, entirely banning faction warfare within its walls.

Despite this mandate of peace, the city is defined by heavy, simmering political tension. The city’s residential tiers are divided between two fiercely competing factions who despise each other:

  • The Aldor Rise: The ancient @Draenei priesthood, who refuse to forgive the @Blood Elfs for their historical atrocities against their people.

  • The Scryer's Tier: The defected @Blood Elf magi, who view the Aldor as rigid zealots and focus entirely on researching arcane anomalies to sabotage @Kael'thas Sunstrider's plans.

As new adventurers arrive from Azeroth, they are forced to choose a side, pledging their loyalty to either the Aldor or the Scryers to help the Sha'tar build a unified vanguard capable of striking down @Illidan Stormrage in the @The Black Temple and repelling the infinite demons of the @Burning Legion .
