Peoples of Adlanthea

Adlanthea is home to an enormous variety of peoples, cultures, and bloodlines shaped by both ancient magic and the industrial age.

Humans remain widespread throughout the continent, particularly within its largest cities, noble houses, military institutions, and commercial centers. Elves maintain old bloodlines and traditions while increasingly participating in modern politics, engineering, firearms, and industry. Dwarves are renowned for craftsmanship, metallurgy, rail engineering, and heavy machinery, while gnomes often thrive in academic, mechanical, and inventive fields.

Tieflings, dragonborn, half-orcs, halflings, and other peoples are equally woven into Adlanthean society. Their experiences vary heavily by region and class, but no race is restricted to a single role. An elf may be a gunslinger, a half-orc a scholar, a tiefling a noble, and a human an occultist.

The industrial age has also given rise to peoples uniquely associated with modern Adlanthea.

Aetherborn descend from generations exposed to concentrated aether. Many possess luminous eyes, glowing veins, or crystalline markings and are naturally sensitive to magical disturbances.

Clockbound are living people permanently integrated with arcane machinery. Some chose modification, while others survived accidents or injuries through mechanical reconstruction. They remain fully sentient beings, not constructs.

Cindren developed around forge cities, furnaces, and industrial fire. Their bodies often carry ember-like tones, metallic flecks, or unusual resistance to extreme heat.

Veyari descend from high-altitude settlements and floating communities. Light-framed, sharp-eyed, and comfortable at great heights, they are common among pilots, navigators, scouts, and airship crews.

Umbrin developed within soot-dark lower cities, tunnels, and subterranean districts. Their reflective eyes and comfort in dim environments make them excellent scouts, guides, couriers, and undercity survivors.

Adlanthea is not a world divided neatly between old peoples and new ones.

It is a world where every generation is being reshaped by progress.
