Moonfyre is notably smaller than traditional Targaryen dragons, about two-thirds the size of Shadowfyre. Its wings are proportionally large for its body, allowing for silent and agile flight. Moonfyre's horns and spinal ridges are a pale, opalescent color.

Hatched from an egg gifted to Naerys on her tenth nameday, Moonfyre bonded quickly with the young princess. The dragon grew alongside Naerys, becoming a symbol of the quieter but no less significant power of the queen. Despite its smaller size, Moonfyre has proven to be a formidable presence, particularly in diplomatic situations where a subtler show of strength is required.
