Joe Mcdih
Name: Joe Mcdih
Race: Tortle
Pronouns: They/Them
Class: Sorcerer (Wild Magic)
Affiliation: Aeterni Viatores – The Six Beyond
Accent: Thick Chinese accent, melodic and calm — until they start laughing, then it’s chaos.
Backstory: “The Shell that Broke the Stars”
Long before their arrival in Agorath, Joe Mcdih lived a peaceful life on a warm coastal island, teaching sea snails to sing and convincing waves to dance. They were eccentric but harmless — or so everyone thought, until the day their magic awoke.
It happened during the Festival of the Thousand Lanterns. When Joe tried to light a single lantern with a flick of magic, every lantern in the village exploded into stars. The night sky shimmered for days. The villagers called it “a sign of blessing.” Joe just laughed nervously, still holding the burnt stick.
But the stars whispered. And one, faint and fading, called their name.
Joe began to dream of a world of black spires, fallen gods, and towers that screamed beneath the earth. When they awoke next, it wasn’t on their island — but in a burning summoning circle, surrounded by cultists.
When the Six Beyond stood, Joe was the last to rise — brushing soot off their shell, blinking at the chaos, and simply saying:
“Oh! New place, new problem. Okay, okay. Breathe, Joe. Don’t explode again.”
Their magic is unpredictable, but their heart is pure. They often joke that their power comes from “eating too much lightning as a baby,” but in truth, their soul is tied to cosmic energy — the same that once birthed the stars.
Now, among the Aeterni Viatores, Joe Mcdih is the unpredictable pulse of hope:
a chaotic, smiling Tortle who might blow up a demon or turn it into a bouquet — no one ever knows.
Personality:
Cheerful and disarmingly calm, even in disaster.
Often mutters in a mix of common and old island dialects.
Has a habit of naming spells (“Okay, this one called Boom Boom Sky Hug! Maybe!”).
When nervous, hums softly — the tune seems to calm magic itself.
Deep down, feels the weight of destiny but refuses to lose their humor.
Quote:
“I no know why I here... but maybe stars do. They always watching, yes? So, I make them proud. Or... at least try not to blow up new friends!” 🌠
