Sanctuary Glades

Havens of Light in the Land of Shadow

When the Deus Mori came and the gods faded from the mortal world, a final gift was left behind. On Noctherna, where demonlords reign and corruption spreads like ink in water, the Grandis Deus poured the remnants of their divine essence into a handful of places — small, sacred clearings where the darkness cannot enter.

These rare sanctuaries are called Sanctuary Glades.

What They Are

A Sanctuary Glade appears as a circle of living green amidst lifeless stone.
Soft grass glows faintly underfoot, untouched by decay.
A single crystal pool reflects starlight, even when the sky is black.

No demon may cross its boundary.
No curse may take root within.

The air here is warm. Peaceful.
Like remembering a dream of home.

Effects for Adventurers

While resting in a Sanctuary Glade:

  • Long rests always restore full HP and resources, regardless of conditions.

  • No random encounters may occur.

  • Curses and corruption are suppressed (but not removed).

  • The party cannot be scried, tracked, or divined while inside.

Spells that normally require rare components may be cast here without cost — the land supplies the offering.

DM Guidance

The Glade should feel divine
Describe warmth, memories, emotions, not just scenery.

REST

allow the players to rest momentarily

Roleplaying the Glade

When the party enters, read softly:

“The darkness behind you falls away.
The air warms. The scent of spring grass rises.
You feel small again, and safe — as though the world itself remembers your name.”

Let them breathe. Let them feel safe for the first time in hours.
