Ultimus Stans
Title: The Last Wall of the Realm
Location: Eastern edge of the Concord Isles, facing the sea and the outer continents.
Symbol: A shield wreathed in silver flame.
Primary Purpose: To act as the final defensive fortress-city should all other regions fall or be overrun.
Ultimus Stans is not a city of comfort — it is a military bastion, a fortress built in layers of stone and reinforced with Ferrus-Lux Arcus veins that allow walls to mend themselves slowly over time. It stands as both a warning and a promise:
If the Towers break.
If demons return.
If kingdoms fall.
Ultimus Stans will still stand.
The city is home to The Grand Guild of the Realm, known simply as The Stand — the organization responsible for:
Regulating Turris Ventus
Regulating all officially recognized adventurers
Approving Tower entry licenses
Military emergency mobilization
Judging magical or political disputes of realm-level consequence
Every adventurer who seeks true renown will, at some point, travel here.
Not all return.
The Stand — Guild Structure
Guildmaster: Holds absolute wartime authority.
Four Pillars: Regional representatives (Aeloria, Durnhal, Valecrown, Concord Isles).
The Archive of Deeds: A living record of every fallen hero.
The Hall of Oaths: Where every adventurer swears service to the realm.
The oath is simple and solemn:
“I stand so others may live.”
Ruler of Ultimus Stans
Guildmaster Aldric Vaelor
Title: The Bulwark Eternal
Rank: Supreme Commander of The Stand
Race: Human
Age: ~55
Appearance:
Broad-shouldered, weathered, hair silvered from years rather than age.
His eyes are calm and unwavering — the eyes of a man who has seen the end and refused to accept it.
He wears armor forged from Ferrus-Lux alloy, polished but unadorned.
His sword is plain.
His presence is not.
Personality
Speaks rarely, but every word is deliberate.
Carries the weight of every name in the Archive.
Treats commoners and nobles identically — all are lives he has sworn to protect.
Does not hope for peace; he prepares for its failure.
Calm in battle, unnervingly so — like a man who has already accepted death.
History
Aldric was once a young soldier in Valecrown, stationed near the Shadow Tower. He was one of the few survivors when Turris Umbra broke. He did not flee. He stayed, fighting for three days and nights without rotation, until reinforcements arrived.
His survival was called:
A miracle by priests,
A testament of endurance by warriors,
And pure stubbornness by Aldric himself.
The Emperor appointed him Guildmaster of The Stand because no one else would bear the responsibility without arrogance.
Quote
“If this world is to fall, it may fall on my shoulders — nowhere else.”
Reputation
To soldiers: A living legend.
To nobles: A political nightmare — incorruptible, unmoveable.
To adventurers: The standard by which all others are measured.
To the Emperor: The only man he trusts with the end of the world.
