History & Calendar

Kavrix Calendar

The calendar of @Kavrix is measured in Thal Years, named for Thallus Fjord, the first recorded summoned hero. Before his arrival, history is divided into the Pre-Thal Age — a time of fractured myths, local record-keeping, and no unified chronology. In Year 0 Thal, Thallus was summoned from another world to combat the first great existential threat to the continent: the Unmaker. His victory forged a continental alliance and marked the start of shared timekeeping across the realm.

From that day forward, the Thal Reckoning became the standard for dating events. The calendar does not count backward before Thal — years prior are referred to simply as “Pre-Thal,” their order known only through oral histories, temple archives, and the deepest vaults of the gods’ own records. The current year is 1138 Thal, marking over a millennium of recorded, unified history since the day the Unmaker fell.

Timeline of Kavrix

Pre-Thal Age — The Age Without Measure (~5,000+ years before Year 0)

  • Origins of the Land — The gods weave @Kavrix from the Sea of Mists, setting continents and oceans, planting the seeds of magic and mortal life.

  • Rise of the First Kingdoms — Isolated realms flourish without contact; magic flows freely but without restraint, birthing anomalies that still haunt the land.

  • Gods’ First Concord — Deities of good and evil meet in the Celestial Conclave, agreeing on the Balance Compact: no great force may rise without its opposite. @The Cosmic Host and @The Silent Dominion were formed.

  • Unnamed Calamities — Ancient villains of titanic scale rise and fall, unrecorded in unified history but memorialized in the @Ruins of Avelgrad, the @The Sunken City of Thalassa, and the frozen bones beneath @The Frozen Necropolis.

0 Thal — The Coming of Thallus Fjord

  • Summoned through an unprecedented multi-kingdom ritual, Thallus arrives from another world.

  • Wields powers unseen before or since — the ability to seal endings themselves, countering the entropy of the Unmaker.

  • Unites @Aertos, @Solara, @Grimstone Hold, and @Sylvaniar Glade in a single campaign.

  • Defeats the Unmaker at the @Cradle of Undoing, sealing it beyond the reach of mortal and divine alike.

  • The Kavrix Calendar begins. The gods reaffirm the Balance Compact.

The First Millennium (1–1000 Thal)

  • 1–200 Thal — Relative peace. @The Adventurer's Guild forms to harness the unpredictable stream of lesser summoned heroes arriving by chance.

  • 233 Thal — Rise of the first Dark Lord, Gorth Malbrine. Defeated after 17 years by a coalition of native-born and summoned heroes.

  • 400–560 Thal — The Age of Lichfire: successive Lich Kings rise, experimenting with breaking the life-death cycle. The gods of death and life nearly go to war.

  • 631 Thal — Founding of the @Academy of Heroes between @Aertos and @Solara to train both summoned and native-born champions.

  • 710–755 Thal — The Demon Lord Vaesh the Golden burns half the eastern coast before being banished to @The Gilded Abyss.

  • 840 Thal — The Second Summoning Accord signed, formalizing the ten-year ceremonial summoning of heroes.

The Second Millennium (1000–1138 Thal)

  • 1002 Thal@The Silent Chorus emerges under Lich King Veythrel, attempting to rewrite the laws of magic. Stopped at great cost; @Sylvaniar Glade loses a third of its Elderwood.

  • 1017 Thal@The Shadowhold Dominion forms under @Valerius, the Dark Lord, marking the modern rise of @The Obsidian Order.

  • 1049 Thal@The Gilded Abyss consolidates under @Xylos, the Demon Lord, beginning the golden age of @The Infernal Syndicate.

  • 1070 Thal — A “wild” Unmaker manifestation briefly destabilizes @The Deep; sealed by three S-Rank heroes in an unrecorded operation.

  • 1100 Thal — The gods’ Balance wavers as multiple villain factions rise simultaneously. The Aokians intervene openly for the first time in centuries.

  • 1110 Thal — Current villain triad solidifies: @Valerius, the Dark Lord, @Xylos, the Demon Lord, and @Aethelred, the Lich King.

  • 1138 Thal (Present) — Tensions between @Aertos and @Solara are at their highest since the Calendar began. The next formal Summoning Ritual approaches, but “wild” summons are spiking at unprecedented rates — some whisper the Unmaker’s return is near.

Cultural Notes on the Calendar:

  • Formal Summoning Years — Every 10 years, marked with elaborate festivals in @Aertos and @Solara; often accompanied by divine omens.

  • Wild Summoning Years — Unpredictable, but recorded in guild archives; known for destabilizing economies and politics alike.

  • The Year of Balance — Every 500 years, the gods are said to weigh the actions of mortals and adjust the Balance Compact — often coinciding with seismic changes in the world.

  • Thallus Day (First Day of the New Year) — Celebrated across @Kavrix as the “Day of the First Hero,” marked by storytelling, tournaments, and offerings to the gods of justice and light.
