Squanchy

Squanchy is a recurring character and one of Rick's oldest, most loyal friends. While he looks like a disheveled, orange cat-like alien, he is actually a fierce warrior and a founding member of the rebellion against the Galactic Federation.

Here is the "squanchy" breakdown of his lore:

  • The "Squanch" Language: Squanchy belongs to a species that uses the word "squanch" for almost everything—nouns, verbs, adjectives, and even deep emotional expressions. It's very similar to how Smurfs talk, but with a much more "adult" and often gross undertone.

  • The Flesh Curtains: Long before the events of the show, Squanchy was the drummer for the band The Flesh Curtains, alongside Rick and Birdperson. This era wasn't just about music; it was when they bonded as freedom fighters against the Galactic Federation.

  • Hulk Squanchy: During the "mate-melding" ceremony (wedding) of Birdperson and Tammy, Squanchy saved Rick and the Smith family. He drank a green liquid from a hollowed-out tooth that transformed him into a massive, muscular behemoth. In this "Hulk" form, he single-handedly tore through dozens of Federation soldiers to buy Rick time to escape.

  • The Battle of Blood Ridge: Squanchy played a pivotal role in this legendary battle. Rick’s memories reveal that Squanchy was a brave, albeit reckless, soldier who stood by Rick’s side when many others retreated.

  • Current Status: For a long time, fans thought Squanchy died at Birdperson's wedding. However, he has made brief appearances since then, including a cameo in Season 7. He seems to have survived the Federation's crackdown, though he remains a wanted fugitive.

Squanchy represents the "ride or die" loyalty that Rick values most, even if his personal habits (like "squanching" in closets) are too gross for even Rick to handle.
