Celestials (Beings of the Upper Planes)

๐Ÿ“– The Celestial Codex: Beings of the Upper Planes

A catalog of the radiant entities that serve the light of the Dawn Mother and uphold the Laws of Sol Invictus. These beings represent the pinnacle of order, restoration, and divine justice. Cataloged by the High Prelates of the Golden Citadel.

I. Guardians of the Peace & Restoration

Dawn-Stag

  • Classification: Spirit of Peace / Restorative Guide

  • Habitat: High mountain passes, secluded glades, and appearing to lost travelers in the Ashen Expanse.

  • Role & Behavior: A creature of pure peace and restoration. The Dawn-Stag appears to those in dire needโ€”wounded soldiers or lost soulsโ€”to guide them to sanctuary. It is a symbol of hope; legends claim that any stream the Stag walks in becomes a panacea capable of curing any disease.

  • Visual Identification: A massive white elk with golden runes tracing its body and eyes of liquid silver. Its ivory antlers are veined with gold, supporting a glowing orb of pure light suspended between the tines.

Solaris Sprite

  • Classification: Radiant Guide / Minor Healing Spirit

  • Habitat: Drawn to those in need; often found near temples or sites of great tragedy.

  • Role & Behavior: A benevolent celestial spirit that acts as a beacon of comfort. It offers minor healing and guidance to the lost, pulsing with a rhythm that mimics a calm heartbeat.

  • Visual Identification: A shimmering, basketball-sized sphere of pure, warm golden light. It resembles a miniature sun and pulses gently with divine energy.

Candle-Wax Imp

  • Classification: Temple Spirit / Benevolent Minor Celestial

  • Habitat: The massive candelabras and eternal flames of the great temples in the Upper Rings.

  • Role & Behavior: Tiny, mischievous but benevolent spirits that treat temple maintenance as a holy calling. They ensure that sacred fires never extinguish and diligently clean up spilled tallow, viewing a clean temple as a form of worship.

  • Visual Identification: A chubby, one-foot-tall humanoid composed of dripping yellow wax. A perpetual, magical flame burns atop its head like a tuft of hair.

II. Divine Soldiers & Warriors

Sun-Lion

  • Classification: Apex Light Predator / Paladin Mount

  • Habitat: The fields of Elysium or serving as mounts for Paladins of the highest order in the Platinum Ring.

  • Role & Behavior: Proud and noble apex predators of the celestial realms. They refuse to hunt natural animals, subsisting entirely on the essence of demons, undead, and Void-spawn. They are the sworn enemies of the Shadowcoil Shadow-Mastiffs.

  • Visual Identification: A lion the size of a draft horse with metallic gold fur that shimmers like chainmail. Its mane is composed of flowing, non-burning golden fire and celestial runes.

Valkyrie

  • Classification: Divine Soldier / Warrior of Elysium

  • Habitat: The front lines of the eternal war against the Void and the halls of the Dawn Mother.

  • Role & Behavior: Elite celestial warriors devoted entirely to the divine will. They embody courage and righteousness, often appearing on battlefields to turn the tide against overwhelming darkness or to escort the souls of the heroic fallen.

  • Visual Identification: A stunningly beautiful woman with stark white hair and piercing golden eyes. She is clad in resplendent golden plate armor and possesses magnificent feathered wings.

Solar-Herald

  • Classification: Divine Voice / Prophetic Messenger

  • Habitat: Descends from the Upper Planes to deliver high-priority prophecies or divine edicts.

  • Role & Behavior: These beings act as the literal voice of the Dawn Mother. They descend to demand the surrender of Void-worshippers or to announce the coming of a new age. They do not use steel; they fight with the absolute, crushing weight of divine command that can drop an army to its knees.

  • Visual Identification: A humanoid silhouette composed entirely of blinding, solid white light. It has no facial features, and its voice sounds like a hundred voices singing in perfect, echoing unison.

III. High Judges & Seraphim

Justice-Archon

  • Classification: Executioner of Law / Divine Judge

  • Habitat: Summoned to the Golden Citadel to judge high-profile prisoners or to hunt greater demons.

  • Role & Behavior: The physical embodiment of Law and Punishment. Archons are emotionless, silent, and terrifyingly efficient. When an Archon is summoned, the trial is a formality; the execution is an inevitability.

  • Visual Identification: A 12-foot giant with skin of grey stone and marble. It possesses four arms: two hold a massive golden scale to weigh a soul's weight, and the other two wield a heavy, double-handed executioner's greatsword. Its eyes are hidden by a golden blindfold.

Dawn-Seraph

  • Classification: Radiant Purifier / High Celestial

  • Habitat: The highest reaches of the Upper Planes; manifests only during events of world-ending importance.

  • Role & Behavior: A being of immense power that embodies the dawn itself. Its mere presence purifies the environment for miles, banishing magical darkness, neutralizing toxins, and bolstering the resolve of all allies within its light.

  • Visual Identification: An androgynous humanoid standing 8 feet tall, hovering above the ground. It possesses four magnificent wings that shift through the colors of a sunrise: purple, pink, orange, and gold.

IV. Spirits of Innocence

Cherub

  • Classification: Innocent Spirit / Bardic Celestial

  • Habitat: Holy gardens, cathedral spires, and the nurseries of the high-born.

  • Role & Behavior: Beings that embody childlike innocence and purity, tempered with a playful and mischievous nature. They use bardic magic to soothe the grieving, deceive the wicked, or heal the small wounds of the faithful.

  • Visual Identification: A small, winged infant with luminous golden eyes and flowing white hair. They often carry a miniature harp or lyre used to channel their magic.
