In the City of the Sun, time is not measured by nature, but by industry. The calendar is mathematically perfect to maximize production, and the workday is ruled by the iron rhythm of the Citadel Bells.
Current Year: 842 A.F. (After Founding) Current Era: The Era of Steam
The year is divided into 4 Seasons and 12 Months. Every month has exactly 30 Days. There are no leap years; consistency is law.
The thaw begins. The city wakes up and production ramps up.
Primus: The start of the new year. Contracts are signed; factories ignite.
Aetheris: High winds allow airships to launch trade expeditions.
Vapor: Melting ice creates heavy fog in the lower districts.
The sun is harsh and the furnaces are hot. Water becomes expensive.
4. Solara: The sun is at its peak.
5. Ignis: The hottest month. The wealthy hide indoors; the poor sleep on rooftops.
6. Drought: Rain ceases. strict water rationing is enforced.
The cooling period. Acid rain falls as the smog condenses.

The world freezes. The Great Engine provides the only warmth.
10. Umbra: The sun is a pale disc; days are short.
11. Frost: Ice coats the outer walls.
12. Silence: The coldest month. Machinery slows down; survival is priority.
Sol Invictus uses a 6-Day Week. Each day represents a step in the industrial process.
Origo: (Origin) - Planning, maintenance, and preparation.
Malleus: (Hammer) - Heavy labor and forging. The loudest day in the city.
Motus: (Motion) - Logistics and shipping. Steam lines run at full pressure.
Arcanus: (Secret) - Magic research and fine-tuning delicate machinery.
Forum: (Market) - The primary day for banking, shopping, and trade.
Requiem: (Rest) - Mandatory rest for humans to prevent exhaustion.
Few commoners own watches. Instead, the city relies on a synchronized network of massive bells to signal the start and end of shifts.
The Master Chime: Located in the Golden Citadel (Platinum Ring).
The Bell Towers: Located throughout the 3rd and 4th Rings. Because sound travels slowly, these towers wait for the right time, then ring their own bells simultaneously with the Citadel. This ensures the whole city hears the time at the exact same moment.
The Daily Schedule:
First Bell (6:00 AM) - "The Wake": The shift begins.
Third Bell (12:00 PM) - "The High Sun": Lunch break and shift change for some sectors.
Sixth Bell (6:00 PM) - "The Whistle": The day shift ends; the night shift begins.
Ninth Bell (Midnight) - "The Dead Hour": Strict curfew for Bronze Pass holders.
