The Black Sigil Knights

The Black Sigil Knights was forged in the wake of devastation caused by ancient power wielded without restraint. Its members believe relics born of dragonkind are forces that outlast wisdom and inevitably corrupt those who attempt to command them. To prevent history from repeating itself, the order exists solely to locate, seize, and destroy such artifacts, regardless of political consequence.

Led by Oror, a survivor of Angelgard’s fall, the Sigil rejects territory, titles, and allegiance to any ruler. The order operates with uncompromising resolve, often clashing with kingdoms, scholars, and cults who seek to preserve or exploit what should never endure. To the Sigil, mercy toward dangerous power is simply another form of negligence.

For now, the Black Sigil Knights operates from a concealed base within the Forgotten Temple, hidden deep in the Greywood Forest. From this temporary refuge, its members plan methodical hunts and silent strikes, accepting fear and condemnation as the price of ensuring such power is never gambled with again.

Beliefs

  • Power Corrupts Absolutely – The order believes that dragon relics are inherently tainted. No mortal possesses the wisdom to wield ancient magic without eventually succumbing to its corrupting influence.

  • Mercy is Negligence – They reject the idea of studying or sealing away dangerous artifacts. To the Sigil, leaving a relic intact is a failure of duty that will inevitably lead to tragedy.

Purpose

  • Relic Annihilation – The Knights exist to track down, secure, and permanently destroy any surviving artifacts, weapons, or magic tied to dragonkind.

  • Preventing the Past – Driven by the memory of Angelgard’s fall, they act as the harsh immune system of the world, neutralizing existential threats before history can repeat itself.

Organization

  • Meritocratic Brotherhood – Led by Oror, the Sigil ignores noble titles and past allegiances. Rank is determined solely by combat prowess, survival, and unwavering commitment to the cause.

  • Hunting Packs – They operate in small, highly lethal, and autonomous cells. This ensures that if one pack is compromised or killed, the rest of the order remains safe.

Stronghold

  • Forgotten Temple – Their current base of operations lies hidden deep within the Greywood Forest. It is a place of function, not worship. The Knights carry no sentimental attachments to their stronghold. They are constantly prepared to burn their own camp and relocate if discovered.
