# Highcrest
## Overview
Highcrest is the capital of Valenor and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Ashenveil. Built atop seven limestone hills overlooking the River Aster, its towering white walls and castle keep can be seen for miles.
The city serves as the political, military, and cultural heart of the kingdom.
Every road leading into central Valenor eventually reaches Highcrest.
