[ENTRY 2: ONE WEEK AFTER THE FALL — MILITARY MEETING]
Commander Pixis called a meeting today. All branches. Even us low-ranking Scouts got to attend—well, stand in the back and listen.
The room was tense. Military Police in their fancy uniforms. Garrison officers looking exhausted. Our Commander Erwin standing quiet, watching everyone like they were specimens under glass.
"The population has lost faith," Pixis said. "People are rioting. Blaming the military. Blaming each other. If we don't do something, the social order collapses."
Someone from the MPs suggested sealing the refugee camps. Let them starve. "Sacrifice the few for the many."
I wanted to punch him.
Erwin spoke for the first time. Quiet voice. Calm. "The Titans didn't breach Wall Rose. They breached Wall Maria. The refugees are scared, not stupid. They know the difference. If we turn on them now, we prove exactly what the Titans want—that humanity is already broken."
Silence.
Pixis grinned. "Well said, Commander."
The MP shut up after that.
But I saw something in Erwin's eyes. He wasn't just defending refugees. He was calculating. Testing reactions. Gathering information.
I don't know if that makes him a good commander or a scary one.
