[ENTRY 9: SIX MONTHS AFTER THE FALL — THE 104TH GRADUATES]

The new soldiers graduated today. The ones who enlisted after the fall.

Top ten got to choose their branch. Most picked the Military Police—safe life, interior duty, never seeing a Titan. Can't blame them. Smart choice.

But some chose us. The Survey Corps.

I watched them sign in. Learned their names:

  • Mikasa Ackerman. Quiet. Scary competent. Something in her eyes that says she's already killed.

  • Armin Arlert. Skinny. Nervous. But smart—the officers were whispering about his strategic scores.

  • Jean Kirstein. Loud. Complained about everything. Wanted the MPs but didn't make the cut. He's going to be trouble.

  • Sasha Blouse. Weird. Stole food from the mess hall during the ceremony. Already in trouble.

  • Connie Springer. Average. Unremarkable. Follows the loud one around.

  • Reiner Braun. Big. Friendly. Talks about going home to see his family. Everyone likes him.

  • Bertholdt Hoover. Tall. Quiet. Hovers behind Braun like a shadow.

  • Annie Leonhart. Cold. Distant. Watches everyone like she's studying prey.

And Eren Yeager. The boy from Shiganshina. The one Hannes carried through the gate. He's got that look—the one I've seen in veterans who've lost everyone. Burning. Obsessed. "I'll kill every last one of them," he says.

They all think he's brave.

I think he's dangerous.
