Ahnekis, about and locations
Ahnekis is a human inhabited continent full of expanding countrysides and great castles surrounded by large cities. In the distance, mountains stretch across the horizon. Their frozen peaks slice the sky open with their imposing statures.
Ahnekis is the home to most humans in this world, as well as their greatest kingdoms. Here, human soldiers wage wars against dragons and other monsters that surround their borders in the far mountains. Adventurers make hunting these monsters to keep them at bay a lucrative business. Most humans share a learned prejudice towards those born to the various monster races, including those who are more intelligent or civilized, yet there are some who see the "humanity" in the monsters they encounter in their lives. This empathy between races is uncommon in Ahnekis. The two worlds failing to see eye to eye with each other foreshadows the deeper issues this dynamic perpetually ensues.
BURLY'S INN
Burly's Inn is a small, old, abandoned castle that has been renovated to be used as an Inn for travelers and adventurers. It sits on the side of a dirt road in the countryside near a larger white castle with red rooftops. Burly's Inn looks warm and comfortable with a fireplace in the lobby and Manny rooms upstairs for lodging. Oak tables scattered around the lobby seat a room full of people who gather here for a little R&R, to socialize with others, and to have their fill of food and drink.
Burly's Inn is a bustling Tavern and Lodge where Adventurers go to socialize with others, and have their fill of food and Mead as well as the opportunity to rest and recuperate after a long quest or journey. A fat muscular man around five feet tall with dark shin, a short curly mohawk with his head shaved on the sides, and a thick black curly beard runs this establishment. His name is Burly. Burly is a dwarf with a serious and gruff personality with a kind heart. He can normally be seen working the bar in Burly's Inn or standing outside the inn smoking large cigars. Burly is always happy to make some gold, or hire adventurers to take on monster related quests around Ahnekis. The one thing burly doesn't tolerate is Disrespect in any form. If someone disrespects him or his place of business they are met with a swift kick in the ass out the door into the muddy ground.
SUNSTONE KEEP
Sunstone keep is a large castle made of gold, wood, and marble. It was built near some major roadways that travelers use to get around Ahnekis. It has two towers with red tile roofs and white flags with an orange sun design top the towers and line the large drawbridge that protects it's entrance.
Sunstone Keep is the base of operations for a local Adventurers guild called the Sunstone Guild. This guild is known for hiring local Adventurers to take on important quests to exterminate the various monsters that arrive on Ahnekis from Vissara. These monsters are a natural threat to the kingdoms of Ahnekis, and the Sunstone Guild makes it their purpose to protect the Humans of Ahnekis from the onslaught of the monster threat. They make a very lucrative business with this service they provide to the near and far villages and cities, and the most powerful adventurers of this Guild rise in glory as they protect Ahnekis and it's people from increasingly more dangerous threats.
URIDIM CITY
Uridim City is a gothic style metropolis with a great dark cathedral that lies at it's center. Golden orange light eminates from the stained glass windows of the bacillica shining down on its citizens in an oppressive manner, and rain pours down hard apon the city almost nonstop. At the edge of the city can be found a small castle atop a steep hill.

Fog blankets the city streets so thickly that the marketplace and the citizens homes need to be lit by large brazzers or torches so you can find them. At the edge of the city can be found a small castle where the ruler, King Carrion, leads with cruelty and suffocating authority over his people. The Citizens of Uridim City are not humans, instead it is inhabited by Kenku. Kenkus are birdlike humanoids that resemble ravens, save for King Carrion who resembles a large humanoid vulture. King Carrion's subjects do not obey him out of love, but out of fear. If one disobeys an order or rule that King Carrion enforces, they are sure to expect a swift death by the hands of their ruler or tortured.
CASTLE SHOALRIDGE
Castle Shoalridge is a large castle with it's outer walls surrounding a small city. This is the City of Shoalridge. The castle is surrounded on land by a ring of mountain ranges save for an opening to the sea on the castles opposite side.
Castle Shoalridge is a large castle with it's outer walls surrounding a small city. This castle was once a central point of power ruled by King Eaustaces father, King Aggorn. Now Castle Shoalridge and it's people are under the Ruler of King Eustace.
THUNDERHEAD MANOR
Thunderhead Manor is a medium sized castle with three towers. A Garth circles the outer castle and a set of large double doors serves as the castle entry. This castle is suspended by a massive flying chunk of earth that is tethered to the ground with strong vines, and white clouds can be seen floating around the airborne castle. Below the castle is a large crater in the earth by the shoreline where it used to rest in the earth.
Locals in Ahnekis have rumored of an old castle that used to rest on the northeastern shore of Ahnekis that took to the skies for an unknown reason. One day the castle that used to be bound to land suddenly uprooted itself and the land it sat on. Floating up into the clouds above. The only evidence of this baffling tale is a large crater by the shore where it used to set, and thick black Cululonimbus clouds that rain down lightning storms apon the coastline. The people in this region believe the castle is hidden in the clouds above, it's Mystery left only to speculation.
AHNEKIS CITY/CASTLE AHNEKIS
Ahnekis City is filled with busy streets, loud marketplaces, and cozy inns. Homes for the citizens are made of wood and stone while the castle that serves as the center point of the city is made of white marble with inlaid gold trim. The castle has five towers, four shorter towers on the outer corners of the castle and one verry tall tower slightly to the right of the castle inside the thick arched outer walls. Sky blue flags adhorn the rooftops and entrance of the castle with a moat surrounding.
Ahnekis City is the pinnacle of society in Ahnekis. The city is well protected by a large army of elite soldiers and spellcasters. This army is responsible for holding back the monster races that travel here from the continent of Vissara. The people of Ahnekis City view these monsters as a threat to their safety and normal ways of life, and so the King of Ahnekis decreed it a top priority to rid the country of all monsters that are found in Ahnekis, or at the least keep them from migrating to Ahnekis from Vissara. Adventurers make good coin working as exterminators in the nearby countrysides, and the people of Ahnekis regard them as valiant and brave warriors that strongly believe in the cause.
Castle Ahnekis is where King Garrish rules over one of the three Ruling territories in Ahnekis. It is his base of operations where he resides and carries out his plans to make a "Pure" Ahnekis free of the monsters that migrate from the rest of the world into the Continent of Ahnekis. He commands a great army of 50000 soldiers at his will, and leads them headlong into conquest trailing behind his steed's wake.
DERRO VILLAGE
Derro Village is a midsized village nestled in the grassy foothills of Ahnekis. It's houses are made of wood and thatched rooftops with rocks on top. Dirt roads wind through the village as ox drawn wagons of fresh harvested crops creep along the paths. In the outskirts of this village lies a massive boulder where an elderly giant warrior in old rusty armor sitting at the foot of the Great stone keeps a vigilant watch over the village. His rusted longsword lies on the hill beside him. Fifty years ago this old colossus was once in a great war between giants and humans. A war that the giants ultimately had to abort when the human opposition became too great. Without a purpose after the war, the giant had decided to spend his last decades protecting the little village of Derro from monsters, giants, and other threats. The people of Derro are grateful for the giants protection. Farmers gift him their older cattle and a smithy works hard to mend the cracks in the giants armor.
THE ICE WALL AND FROSTBITE CASCADES
The Ice wall is a long stretch of enormous jagged icy mountain ridges that barricade Ahnekis from entry from Vissara. These frozen peaks stand at a seventy eight degree angle on the side that meets the coastline, delving directly into the tides below. The opposite side is made up of jagged ridges that slant in the direction of the coastline beyond the mountains. To Pass through the ice wall requires a successful DC 18 Strength check to enter or exit this area. If unsuccessful the player or NPC falls 200 feet and takes 1d10 fall damage.
Frostbite Cascades is a frozen mountain range that is the only thing shielding the humans of Ahnekis from the monster races in Vissara. This towering wall of peaks and ridges is made up of thick ice walls and cold stone slopes. If travelers from Vissara try to enter Ahnekis through these mountains they are forced to climb a thousand feet up the side of the icy slopes to the nearest plateau. From there it is a one month trek through Frostbite Cascades to reach the other side where the grassy expanse of Ahnekis can be found.
