Ragiid Characters Involved
Important monster races
Drazzan Goblins (Drazzan Sea)
The Drazzan are small black hairy nomadic goblins known for their skill in theivery, deception, and cunning. They gather in masses and construct camps filled with the treasures they stole and they do this to sell these goods to wandering adventurers for insane prices. Underestimating these small goblins is unwise as they have a short temper and they are known to attack savagely.
Whereyeenas
Wereyeenas are a race of savage humanoid hyenas that worship death in the way of conquest in battle. They invade countrysides and cities in great numbers. Riding tigers as steeds and attacking in a blitzkrieg fashion. What they don't eat, they destroy or make their slaves. Leaving prosperous territories in ruin as they rampage on in their endless raid.
Characters
Razengo
Razengo is the chieftain leader of the Wereyeenas. He has won this right through his cunning unforgiving nature and brutality in combat. He is easily the largest of his kind standing at ten feet where his subjects stand at an average of six feet. He has a muscular frame decorated in scars and his right eye is scarred by an old blade would, causing blindness in that eye.
Razengo was born the runt of his litter. This meant he had to learn to fight only a full moon after his birth, and he fought hard. Razengo's larger cub mates were unforgiving and relentless with him. Often teaming up against him to deny him food, comfort, and comradery.
At first Razengo's efforts to claim what was his were met with cruel laughter and physical defiance. But Razengo was building in determination and honing the cunning fearsome nature he later became known for. In time he had grown strong. Fighting became his second nature and as he feasted on his foes he grew to unparalleled proportions. The night he won his challenge of combat against the old chieftain was the night the world stood silent in fearful anticipation of Razengo's new reign.
Hakim, The Beastmaster
Hakim was born among the scattered, independent desert tribes, mastering the art of taming and commanding the desert's most fearsome beasts – from giant scorpions to sand drakes. Kazem, seeking to control the tribal lands and enforce his will, kidnapped Hakim's beloved sand drakes and threatened their lives (and Hakim's tribe) unless Hakim lent his expertise to the Sultan's oppressive patrols and hunting down dissidents. He harbors a deep, animalistic rage against Kazem.
Layla
Layla's family has tended the sacred oasis gardens for generations, a legacy of vital importance before the Sultan's tyrannical rule. Her younger brother suffers from a severe lung ailment, requiring constant access to fresh water and specific desert herbs that are now brutally rationed by the Sultan. She works tirelessly, enduring the backbreaking labor, hoping to earn enough access to save him.
Omar
Omar has run caravans across Raggid's scorching sands for decades, witnessing the slow strangulation of trade and the increasing desperation of remote communities under the Sultan's brutal levies. He knows the desert's secrets and its hidden paths, and carries tales of both woe and quiet resistance from oasis to oasis. The Sultan's recent demands have driven his own family into deep debt and risk.
Kael
Kael was once a promising apprentice to the Sultan's chief architect, dreaming of designing grand structures that would bring beauty to Raggid. However, he quickly realized the Sultan's projects were built on the backs of forced labor and meant only to further his personal glory, not the welfare of the people. He secretly records the true cost of these projects and dreams of a better, fairer city.
Narrise
Narrise was once a promising apprentice to the oasis's most revered water diviner. His true passion, however, was in harnessing the raw, chaotic magic of the desert itself. Kazem, hearing of his destructive arcane talents, imprisoned his family and forced Faris into his service. Now, Faris must channel the oasis's life force to power Kazem's cruel contraptions, creating drought in other areas or powering brutal labor machines. He dreams of breaking free but is utterly bound by his family's peril.
Serina
Serina was once a captain in the Sultan's personal guard, known for her unwavering loyalty and combat prowess. She witnessed the Sultan's growing cruelty firsthand, culminating in an order that forced her to inflict unnecessary suffering on innocent citizens. She refused, leading to her brutal demotion and public shaming. She now lives on the fringes, nursing her wounds and a burning desire for justice.
Zahira
Zahira was born into a family of respected scholars and astronomers, cultivating a keen intellect and a thirst for knowledge. However, Kazem's father, recognizing her cunning, forced her into service as a royal informant. Trained in the arts of espionage and psychological manipulation, Zahira now oversees Kazem's vast network of spies and informants, collecting every secret in Shiammal. She believes knowledge is the only true power, and Kazem's madness threatens the order she desires.
Indira
Indira was once a knight of a holy order that guarded a sacred fortress in Ragiid. When a cataclysmic event struck, the fortress sank into the earth, and with it, their sacred weapon. Indira was one of the few survivors. She took an Oath of Vengeance against the forces that caused the cataclysm. Now, she roams the lands of Ragiid, seeking the lost fortress and its powerful weapon. She will stop at nothing to retrieve it and restore her order.
Zahra bint Khalid
Zahra comes from a long line of lorekeepers in the desert kingdom of Ragiid. Her family has preserved ancient scrolls that survived the great cataclysm, but their secrets were locked away. Zahra became a high-ranking cleric of a new faith that reveres knowledge. She believes the key to the world's future lies in its past, and is on a quest to unlock the secrets of the dormant magical forces that reshaped the world.
Abbas, The Sultan's Leash
Abbas was once a respected soldier, known for his unwavering discipline. After a catastrophic battle where he lost his entire squad (a defeat secretly engineered by a rival who then framed Abbas), Kazem offered him a choice: public execution or absolute loyalty as his Captain of the Guard. Abbas chose life, but his soul died. He now enforces Kazem's will with chilling efficiency, a broken man who believes the world only rewards cruelty. He lives with quiet, self-loathing.
SULTAN KAZEM
Sultan Kazem is a tall slender human of Persian origin. A handsome face lies under a thin mustache and a long black pointed goatee, and his eyes radiate malice with a devilish smile. He wears royal garb of Arabic design under a steel breastplate, steel boots, and steel gauntlets. He carries a golden scimitar with a gold and Ruby handle on his hip and a turban with a large red feather crowns his head. A long white cape drapes behind him attached to his shoulders with a scorpion shaped copper pin.
Sultan Kazem is the current heir of a long family lineage of tyrannical rulers who have dictated the people of Shiammal for the last three hundred years. Prince Kazem's father held the same ideals as their forbearers about how to rule. As a young prince Kazem was somewhat kind hearted in nature, but his father saw that as weakness and made a point to beat the lesson into Kazem before teaching him the ways of a tyrannical ruler. Kazem's father believed that the world is full of treachery and danger, and on Ragiid that was the very concept that kept the people of Shiammal from leaving the city. Kazeem understood this concept well and as he grew of age he twisted this idea into a cruel interpretation of power, service, and sacrifice. Kazan rules over his people with a vicious selfishness and extorts his people for free back breaking labor in exchange for providing his people the privilege to use the water in the oasis owned by his family for countless generations.
If Sultan Kazem is in combat and is about to kill an npc character or player character, he might stop and lean in close softly uttering the words "Such a generous contribute to my reign. Truly a priceless sacrifice!" Before delivering the killing blow to the npc or player character.
Sultan Kazem is a cruel authoritarian dictator who believes his word is law. He is manipulative to other rulers and his subbordinates and deceitful to those who do not benefit his interests.
His sense of humor is chaotic and malicious and he cares not who he hurts with his trickery.
