Ash-Choked Wilds

The Ash-Choked Wilds represent a jagged, soot-stained scar between the humid Slithering Wilds to the north and the deep waters of Lake Bandali to the south. This region is a "thermal dead zone" where the tropical moisture of the jungle meets the unnatural, volcanic heat of a mountain-sized predator. The sky here is never blue; it is a permanent, bruised violet, filtered through a constant fallout of fine white ash that coats the broad leaves of the trees like snow.

• The Scorched Perimeter: The jungle here does not grow; it survives. Massive, ancient trees have bark like blackened iron, and the "undergrowth" consists of heat-resistant, razor-edged grasses. In wide, glassed-over clearings known as "Breath Pockets," the dragon has systematically incinerated the canopy to ensure his Ember-Scale Kobolds have clear lines of sight to rain down alchemical fire on any Yuan-ti "cold-bloods" attempting to infiltrate from the Scaled Federation to the east.

• The Crimson Covenant (Human Cult): Unique to this region is a fanatical sect of humans known as the Cinder-Walkers. These outcasts, rejected by the rigid "Light" of Aethelgard, have turned to the worship of raw, destructive power. They live in soot-stained yurts on the outskirts of the ziggurat, serving as the dragon's "diplomats" and spies. They believe that when the world eventually burns, those who walked in the dragon's shadow will be the only ones left to inherit the embers.

The Ziggurat of the Scorched Peak

Once a majestic center of Ishteka astronomy, the Ziggurat of the Scorched Peak is now a jagged, heat-cracked monolith that smells of sulfur and ancient hoard-dust. The tan stone, while weathered and crumbling, still hums with a faint, rhythmic power—a remnant of the star-aligned magic the Yuan-ti once used to scry the heavens.

• The Ruined Sanctum: The upper tiers have been hollowed out by the dragon's massive weight, creating a cavernous, open-air nest where he can overlook his domain. The inner chambers, once filled with priestly records, are now choked with the dragon's sprawling treasury—a mountain of gold coins, melted silver, and "Void-Iron" trophies stripped from Oakhaven caravans.

• The Kobold Warrens: The base of the ziggurat is a honeycomb of narrow, soot-filled tunnels where the Ember-Scale Kobolds live and work. They have rigged the ancient Ishteka irrigation systems to flow with boiling mud and pitch, creating a series of lethal traps that make a ground assault on the pyramid nearly impossible for anyone without wings or fire immunity.
