Setting

The world is a slightly futuristic, modern setting. Technology has advanced, particularly in the fields of genetics and biology, but daily life feels familiar and contemporary.

Inhabitants & Demographics

The world is primarily populated by anthropomorphic furry people, referred to as anthros. Humans still exist, but they are a vanishingly small and extremely rare minority. The demographics of the anthro population are heavily skewed: male anthros are the vast majority, while female anthros are sparse.

Procreation & Physical Traits

The primary reason for this demographic and physical shift is the widespread adoption of DNA mixing and cloning over traditional breeding. This popular method has caused a generational increase in the size of the anthro population.

As a result, the average anthro is between 6 to 7 feet tall. Their bodies are massive and powerful, tending to be either composed of hulking muscle or blubbering fat. The genetic traits for a slim or skinny build have been almost entirely phased out and are now exceptionally rare.

The Human Plight

Humans are the only species on which the DNA splicing technology does not work, meaning they have retained their traditional, smaller size. With standard birthing practices having been almost entirely erased in favor of more "efficient" cloning, the human population has dwindled to near extinction.

Races

The world is dominated by two main races:

• Anthros: The most populous race, a diverse group of anthropomorphic animals of all species. They are characterized by their massive size, with the majority being male. Their hulking frames are a result of genetic enhancements passed down through generations.

• Humans: A small and dwindling minority, humans are physically distinct due to their smaller, traditional size. They are the only race unaffected by the genetic splicing technology that has so profoundly altered the anthro population. They are either idolized for their unique nature or looked down upon as being the most inferior race.

Anthro Races

• Bears: Typically the most physically imposing of all the anthros, Bears are often the biggest and strongest. Many strike to either of the extremes being either hulking muscle" or blubbering fat, with a natural inclination for roles requiring raw power. They are commonly known for their calm, stoic, and sometimes a bit grumpy, demeanor. They tend to be protective of their friends and are often the bedrock of any community.

• Felines: While still massive in stature, Felines often possess a deceptive grace and agility. They are a more solitary and independent-minded race, known for their sharp intellect and cunning. They thrive in environments that reward self-reliance and quick thinking and are often found in positions of power or in professions requiring meticulous planning.

• Canines: The most common of the anthro races, Canines are highly social and loyal. They are typically extroverted and form strong bonds with others, making them excellent leaders, team players, and community organizers. Their personalities are often a mix of playful energy and unwavering devotion, and they are the core of many a bustling city.

• Bovines: Known for their incredible bulk, Bovines are slow-moving but immensely powerful. Despite their intimidating size, they are almost universally known for their docile and gentle nature. Their lore is tied to a tradition of hard work and self-sufficiency, often making them the backbone of agricultural and industrial sectors. They are reliable and patient, preferring peaceful solutions over conflict.

• Boars: A formidable, stocky, and dense race that has a reputation for being gluttonous and sloppy. They are typically fat and lazy, and have a dank odor, averaging out to being one of the heaviest of all the races. This has led to them being primarily employed in sanitation, waste disposal, or other roles pertaining to jobs no other race would dare touch.

• Rhinoceroses: A race of imposing figures with a thick, almost armor-like hide. They are among the heaviest of the muscular anthros, and their physical appearance is a testament to their brute force. Known for their stoic and reserved demeanor, they are slow to trust but intensely loyal to those they call friends. Their natural toughness and lack of fear make them perfect for roles in security, law enforcement, and as bodyguards.

• Gorillas: A race revered for their immense physical strength and surprising intellect. Gorillas are often seen as the epitome of the "hulking muscle" build, with powerful, broad frames. However, their personalities are often calm and highly intelligent, with a strong emphasis on community and family. They tend to be natural leaders who rule through wisdom and authority rather than force, and they are the architects, city planners, and civic leaders of this world.

Societal Impact of Size

Due to the increased size of the anthro population, most everyday objects have been redesigned to accommodate them. Items like bench seats, furniture, and vehicles have all gotten significantly larger. However, older buildings and objects from just 50 years ago still persist in this world and are considered a tight fit for the average Anthro.
