Economy

The Bardopolin currency is standardized to facilitate the massive trade networks required to feed the population's hunger and consumerism. The coins themselves are minted thick and heavy, often stamped with the profiles of historically significant figures, like massive Mages, Kings or legendary Warriors
Currency Conversion Rates

  • 100 Copper Pieces (CP) = 1 Silver Piece (SP)

  • 50 Silver Pieces (SP) = 1 Gold Piece (GP)

  • Calculation: 5,000 Copper Pieces = 1 Gold Piece

Economic Note: Inflation in Bardopolin hits "caloric density" hardest. A basket of lettuce is dirt cheap because it offers no magical utility. Conversely, a stick of butter or a jar of rendering fat, ripe with mana storage, commands a much higher price

I. Copper: The Commoner's Coin

The currency of daily survival and basic maintenance.

Copper is the coin of the laborer and the uninitiated. It circulates in the bustling markets where raw ingredients are sold in bulk. For the average citizen, copper is used to maintain their current size, not necessarily to expand it.

  • 1–10 Copper buys:

    • Basic Sustenance: A dense loaf of rye bread or a basket of fibrous tubers (low mana potential).

    • Hydration: A tankard of weak ale or watered-down mead.

    • Services: A quick boot shine or a toll to cross a minor bridge.

  • 50–90 Copper buys:

    • A "Builder's" Lunch: A hearty stew loaded with heavy cream and fatty meats (the entry-level meal for mass-building).

    • Raw Materials: A small jar of lard or a sack of flour for home baking.

    • Entertainment: Entry to a local tavern brawl or a low-tier strongman posing competition.

II. Silver: The Merchant's Standard

The currency of growth, trade, and culinary magic.

Silver represents the transition from merely surviving to actively participating in "The Bardopolin Way." It is the coin used by soldiers, merchants, and aspiring mages who are actively "bulking" to increase their magical power.

  • 1–15 Silver buys:

    • Minor Magical Infusers: A vial of any type of Spark-Syrup (grants a temporary cantrip like "Light" or "Spark") or a Haste-Hash brownie.

    • Mass-Building Meals: A multi-course dinner at a respectable inn, specifically designed to add 2–3 pounds of weight in a single sitting.

    • Structural Goods: A reinforced chair (built to support 400+ lbs) or heavy-duty clothing fabric.

  • 20–40 Silver buys:

    • Ritual Components: Incense and oils required for a standard reproductive life-essence ritual.

    • Specialized Labor: Hiring a mid-level Sous-Mage (a chef with magical training) to prepare a private, mana-rich banquet.

    • Travel: A ticket on a reinforced river barge or a seat in a heavy-duty carriage.

III. Gold: The Lords and Nobles Currency

The currency of power, excess, and high arcana.

Gold is the domain of the elite, the massively obese Arch-Mages, the gluttonous nobility, and the master Culinary Enchanters. In Bardopolin, possessing gold means you have the resources to maintain a physique capable of world-altering magic.

  • 1–250 Gold buys:

    • High-Tier Infusers: A bottle of Titan’s Tallow (permanently increases mana capacity/weight) or a vintage mana-wine aged in demon-pact barrels.

    • Enchanted Gear: "Flow-Weave" robes that magically expand and re-tailor themselves instantly as the wearer gains weight, or a weapon forged from heavy star-metal.

    • Pact Services: The cost to summon a minor demons or common service workers to help aid in manual labor, or other deeds.

  • 550+ Gold buys:

    • Rare Artifacts: A Table of the Glutton (a magical furniture piece that keeps food hot and prevents spoilage indefinitely).

    • Real Estate: A reinforced stone tower with widened hallways and a dedicated, magically cooled larder.
