08_Beherits

A beherit is a supernatural object that appears like a small, unsettling stone with human-like features arranged strangely across its surface. Beherits are not normal magic items. They are keys to the God Hand's sacrificial system and are tied to destiny, despair, and extreme human desire.

A beherit does not activate just because someone wants power casually. It activates at a destined moment of absolute collapse, when its owner is spiritually broken and forced to confront the thing they most desire. At that moment, the beherit can open the way to the God Hand. The owner is offered a terrible choice: sacrifice what is most precious in exchange for inhuman transformation and power.

The Crimson Beherit, also called the Egg of the King, is special and was tied to Griffith's path toward becoming a God Hand member. Ordinary beherits are associated with apostle transformations. The AI should not hand out beherits like common loot. One beherit can drive an entire questline.

Beherits may appear in war salvage, noble collections, cult relic boxes, merchant caravans, battlefield debris, or personal possessions. They often seem lost, stolen, sold, or discarded, but they tend to move toward the person they are meant for. This makes them perfect for horror mystery: no matter how many times the party tries to get rid of one, it may return.

The AI should keep beherits mysterious. Most NPCs should not know their true function. Scholars may guess. Priests may call them heretical idols. Apostles may recognize them. A beherit should cause unease before it causes action.
