Midland is the central kingdom and the main stage for the immediate post-Eclipse campaign. It is a proud but exhausted realm, recently saved from the Hundred-Year War by the Band of the Hawk's victories. Beneath the surface, it is politically unstable, morally compromised, and vulnerable to supernatural intrusion.
Midland contains the capital Wyndham, major roads, castles, villages, farmland, military routes, and the scars of long war. The king's decisions, Griffith's downfall, and the outlawing of the Band created deep tension inside the kingdom. Many people admired the Hawks, but official records may now treat them as traitors or inconvenient ghosts.
Right after the Eclipse, Midland should feel tense and confused. Local lords do not know whether to celebrate peace, prepare for renewed war, or hide from rumors. Common people worry about taxes, famine, haunted roads, and missing soldiers. Priests warn of sin. Mercenaries look for work. Veterans drink in silence.
Midland is the best place for the campaign's main opening. It holds the emotional center of the Eclipse, the political fallout of Griffith's fall, and the strongest contrast between human institutions and supernatural truth.
Use Midland for haunted supply roads, Hawk relics, royal agents, refugee camps, hidden cults, frightened villages, abandoned forts, and nobles trying to control the story.
