50_Holy_See_Agents_and_Knights

Holy See agents are crucial for a post-Eclipse campaign because they can plausibly investigate strange events without understanding them. They include priests, clerks, inquisitors, knights, confessors, relic examiners, healers, and scribes.

Some agents are sincere. They want to protect villages, bury the dead, comfort survivors, and oppose evil. Others are political, cruel, or ambitious. Many are simply afraid. The institution gives them authority, but not perfect wisdom.

The Holy Iron Chain Knights can later be tied to investigations around the red lake and suspected heresy. For early campaign use, similar Holy See parties can appear: a miracle commission, an armed escort for a bishop, an archive team, or a small group sent to verify impossible rumors.

The AI should make Holy See interactions morally complex. A priest may shelter a branded survivor until his superior arrives. A knight may protect the party from bandits while also demanding they surrender a witch. A clerk may hide a report because the truth would cause panic.

Use their presence to ask: what happens when an institution built to define evil meets evil it cannot correctly name?
