In the early days of Off-world colonization, Las Vegas served as North America's most prominent debarkation point. The Paradise Hotel and Casino offered emigrants indulgence in real food and vice prior to their departure.
In the 2000s, a missile attack on Los Angeles was prevented. A dirty bomb was intercepted and detonated outside of the city, dousing Las Vegas in nuclear fallout, forcing the city's abandonment by humans. Replicants were mostly blamed for the attack. Alternatively, some rumors claimed that an east coast megacity desired Las Vegas' debarkation contract while others blamed an "Earth First" group.
As many replicants, unlike humans, could safely withstand the radiation present in the city, many flocked to it. Conflict arose between factions modeled after ancient Babylonian and Egyptian kingdoms. The latter, led by queens Nefertiti and Cleopatra, emerged victorious. Another group, modeled after the Roman empire and led by Julius Caesar attacked, but a truce was soon formed between them and the Egyptian queens. This truce remained intact as of late 2032 and the city was still considered uninhabitable for humans.
