Leon is one of the force’s most accomplished powered-armour pilots and is associated with the K-11 and K-12S suits. These machines provide far greater armour and firepower than ordinary police equipment but remain less advanced and less agile than the Knight Sabers’ hardsuits.

The A.D. Police, short for Advanced Police, are MegaTokyo’s specialized response force for crimes and disasters involving Boomers, cybernetic weapons, terrorism, and other threats beyond the capabilities of ordinary law enforcement.
The organization operates as a heavily armed police division rather than a conventional military unit. Its officers deploy with automatic weapons, armoured vehicles, aircraft, powered armour, electronic surveillance equipment, and specialized anti-Boomer technology. Despite this firepower, the A.D. Police are frequently outmatched by advanced Combat Boomers and experimental GENOM technology.
Following the destruction and reconstruction of Tokyo, Boomers became essential to MegaTokyo’s industrial growth. They were used in construction, manufacturing, service work, security, entertainment, and countless other fields.
As Boomer use expanded, so did incidents involving:
defective programming;
illegal modification;
excessive workloads;
criminal reactivation;
military models;
corporate experimentation;
deliberate weaponization;
and unexplained rampancy.
Ordinary police units lacked the weapons, armour, and training necessary to contain these incidents. The A.D. Police were therefore established as an elite force specializing in Boomer-related emergencies and high-risk technological crime.
The 1990 A.D. Police Files OVA takes place in 2027, five years before the main Bubblegum Crisis story, and follows Leon McNichol during his early service with the organization.
