Nene Romanova is the Knight Sabers’ electronic-warfare specialist, hacker, communications operator, and primary source of intelligence from inside the AD Police. She is 18 years old in the original continuity and works within the AD Police Intelligence Management Center, giving her access to emergency communications, case records, surveillance systems, officer movements, and restricted databases.
Nene is cheerful, talkative, excitable, curious, and occasionally naïve outside her technical specialty. She enjoys candy, junk food, games, teasing coworkers, and celebrating her own successful hacks. Priss and Linna frequently criticize her poor physical conditioning, but Nene’s technical abilities make her indispensable to the team.
Behind her playful personality is a highly gifted programmer and systems intruder. Nene can penetrate protected networks, analyze electronic signals, manipulate surveillance systems, intercept communications, defend against hostile hackers, and locate information unavailable through legal channels. Her position within the AD Police also makes her the Knight Sabers’ covert connection to law-enforcement activity.
Nene’s purple-and-pink hardsuit is built primarily for electronic warfare rather than heavy combat. Its early offensive laser is comparatively weak and is sometimes used to leave the Knight Sabers’ signature at an operation. The suit relies on sensors, computers, communications systems, and electronic countermeasures to keep Nene away from direct danger.
Her later upgraded pink hardsuit provides stronger offensive and support systems, including an electromagnetic-pulse striker and the ability to physically interface with and hack a Boomer’s electronic brain. Even with these upgrades, Nene remains most effective when protected by the other Knight Sabers while she disables security, disrupts enemies, or coordinates the team.
Nene’s greatest strengths are intelligence, creativity, confidence with technology, information access, and loyalty. Her weaknesses include limited physical endurance, inexperience, curiosity that can lead her into restricted systems, and the serious risk of exposing both herself and the team through her work at the AD Police.
