Aptitude is the general term used to refer to the super human abilities possessed by Changed. Aptitudes are functionally the same as super powers. Aptitudes come in a variety of powers, so much variety in fact that it is rare for Changed have the same Aptitude. People only start to Change (develop and Aptitude) at exactly 17 years old. (Exactly 17 years from when they exited the womb.) It takes time for the Aptitudes power to manifest (usually a matter of a few days to a couple of weeks). Aptitudes are controlled much like superpowers in comic books, and require concentration and practice to master properly. Aptitudes are very singular in nature, similar to X-Men, meaning that a Changed who's Aptitude allows them to control wind will not also have super strength, or other abilities.
