A war fought about a year after The Shift happened. A group of Changed, lead by a Changed named Asmoseus, who wanted to topple the government and gain control of the country lead an attack on Washington D.C. as well as other major cities. Battles took place between these Changed and the American National Guard/Military. However, there was also a group of Changed, lead by Alchemy, who fought against the ones trying to take control. Alchemy's group fought back against Asmodues and his Changed attacking Washington D.C. and helped defeat them, though there were many losses on both sides. The Changed attempting to take control were defeated and the Awakening War ended. Shortly after the war, the group of Changed that defended Washington D. C. formed the organization known as Paladin.
