Capital of the Hearthbound Concord
“Where Every Road Ends at a Table.”
Hearthmeet is the beating heart of the Hearthbound Concord—a large, prosperous town without walls, towers, or standing armies. Instead of battlements, it relies on open roads, shared tables, and an unmatched web of goodwill. Travelers approaching Hearthmeet often remark on the same strange sensation: the longer they stay, the harder it becomes to imagine harming the place.
The town sprawls gently across rolling farmland and orchard-lined hills, arranged in 10 districts, 8 of which are anchored by a governing District tavern, the remaining 2 districts host the Seller and Maker districts. Hearthmeet functions as the Concord’s political, economic, and cultural capital, yet never feels imposing. Everything is scaled for comfort and friendly competition rather than grandeur.
The Population is predominantly halfling, but the streets are filled with humans, dwarves, gnomes, elves, and the more exotic species—many of whom arrived for a night and stayed for years.
Hearthmeet is the seat of power of The Hearth Guild, a gathering of the most respected Master Innkeepers of the Concord. There is no single ruler, however the Master Inkeeper at the top of the Hearthmeet Rankings presides over the council.
Infrequent Council meetings rotate between the Eight District Taverns, preventing power from consolidating in one place. Once a year the most prominent Innkeepers from nearby towns gather for administrative duties.
Major council meetings are always accompanied by a feast at the cost of the hosting District Tavern; Master Innkeeper's from around the Hearthbound Concord may attend and the feast is then open to all once deliberations end.
Laws are simple, practical, and socially enforced. Shame, hospitality withdrawal, or exile are far more common punishments than imprisonment.
Justice is typically handled in Open Hearth Sessions, where disputes are settled over food, drink, and witness testimony. A meal shared in bad faith is considered a serious social crime.
Each of Hearthmeet’s 8 District Taverns is more than an inn—they are institutions, each governing their respective District.
The 8 District Taverns listed in their current rankings are:
Hearthfire Hall - The Largest and Fanciest of the 8 Taverns is located in the centre of Hearthmeet. A grand complex of multi-story and interlinked Taproom's and two connected hotels. The district itself is home to the social elite of the city. Current Owner: @Perren Hearthglow
The Skyfire Inn - Direct rival to Hearthfire hall, the Skyfire Inn bears the grudge of always landing in second place in the Hearthmeet Rankings. The district is home to artisans and merchants due to its close proximity to the Seller and Maker districts. The district is surrounded by a winding river which hosts the famous "Barrel Bust-up" a barrel racing festival where each tavern builds and races a decorated barrel down the river while the audience pelts them with produce. Current Owner: @Jona Skyfire
The Brambery Inn - The loudest Tavern in the city, the Brambery Inn is located in the northwest of Hearthmeet and is best known for its "Big top" a massive circus tent hosting nightly magic shows. The district itself is mostly home to musicians, magicians, Acrobats and other entertainers. Current Owner: @Pip Brambery
The Meadow's Mug - Winner of best Brew 40 years running, the Meadow's Mug is a tavern and brewery all in one. The district itself is home to only the owners and workers of the tavern and accompanying farmland. The district prides itself on its many varied ales and meads sold, each one grown and brewed within the district and surrounding farmland. Current Owner: @Ruth Meadowly
The Cozy Acorn - Smallest of the District Taverns, The Cozy Acorn is proud of its loyal patrons all of which are locals of the district. The locals of the district are bakers, deli owners and Roadwardens. The tavern is one of the only locations in the city where outsiders are generally not welcome due to it also being the home of the Roadwardens hall which polices the city. Current Owner: @Barnap Underbough
The Bramble Barrel - Home to most of the builders of the city, the Bramble Barrel is a rough and rowdy tavern and district. Bramble Barrel locals are known for fighting and drinking and are often winners of the Barrel Bust-up. Current Owner:
Hinverside Herst - A tavern mixed with an adventurers guild, Hinverside Herst is often home to both local and travelling adventurers. The centre of the tavern hosts a large jobs board with postings for merchant caravans, bounties and other quests. Current Owner: @Pikin Meadowlight
The Burrow and Barley - Perenially ranked last in the Hearthmeet rankings. The Burrow and Barley is the only tavern in the town run by a non-halfling. The district has a reputation for shady dealings and the housing of mostly drunk travellers that arrived to Hearthmeet and never left. Current Owner: @Rath Galroot
Hearthmeet is an economic powerhouse despite its peaceful nature.
Exports: rare ales, preserved foods, enchanted comfort items, wines, hospitality-trained staff, and diplomatic envoys.
Imports: luxury goods, raw metals, exotic spices, magical curiosities.
The "Sellers Market" operates daily, with seasonal grand markets and festivals drawing traders from across the continent.
Coin flows freely, but favors, meals owed, and hospitality markers are just as valuable. Many debts are tracked not in ledgers but in memory—and forgotten debts are remembered longest.
Despite its cozy appearance, Hearthmeet is exceptionally well-run:
Granaries & Cellars hidden beneath taverns and halls ensure food security.
Roadwardens manage travel, disputes, and safety. The Roadwardens hall is located in The Cozy Acorn District. The Sherrif of the Hearthmeet Roadwardens is @Barnap Underbough
The Hearth Archive records agreements, treaties, and guest histories. Located in the Hearthfire Hall Central District.
Craft Halls are located in the Makers District for blacksmiths, brewers, bakers, coopers, farmers, and vintners.
There are no walls, but roads are immaculate, lighting is plentiful, and strangers are noticed instantly—politely, but thoroughly.
