Situated within the Oakbreath wood, Oakrest is a rough-and-tumble settlement populated by hunters, woodcutters, and rangers. It's famed for its expertly cured meats and brutal bare-knuckle boxing matches, all under the oppressive thumb of the secretive Tripano crime family. This family operates beyond the Hearthfire Accord, offering protection, loan sharking, and gambling while maintaining order through violence and fear. Notably, there is no official Roadwarden's Office in town.
The town features a wooden pallisade protecting it was denizens of the forst and filled with sturdy structures built with thick oak beams, adorned with intricately carved animal totems. Paths are unpaved but well worn ground, giving the settlement a rustic and somewhat untamed feel. "The Badabing Tavern" is two story hunter's lodge in the centre that doubles as a tavern and the home of the Tripano family and has a Bare knuckle fighting ring next to it.
"Kiss the Ring": It’s a local unwritten rule that any travellers to Oakrest must give Tawny Tripano his due either by an open display of submission such as kissing one of the rings on his hand or by a gift of gold or other goods to the value of 10 gold.
The Oakbreath Wood Heritage festival: Every Winter, the town decorates their homes with the largest prize animal skull they hunted through the Autumn season. The winner gets a single favour from Tawny Tripano. The festival is a time of eating cured meats and drinking imported wine.
@The Bada Bing: A renowned hunting lodge and the de facto headquarters of the formidable Tripano crime family. It's owned by head of the family, Tawny Tripano who doesn't lift a finger in its running. The tavern's day to day is run by his nephew "Molti Santi". Well armed guards can be found out the front and inside around the owner @Tawny Tripano. The running of the tavern falls to @Molti Santi.
@Little Oakery Market: A small open-air market specializing in furs, cured meats, and general goods. It is overseen by @Carella Tripano
@The Pit: An open air fighting pit where anyone can fight for money as long as they have received Tawny Tripano's blessing to join. Fights are often rigged with one combatant secretly drugged or given brass knuckles at the last minute.
The largest forest in the Hearthfire Concord boundaries, it's full of animal game such as wolves, Boars, Deer and Brown bairs. The area is devoid of bandits thanks to the patrols of hunters and guards from Oakrest who fiercely defend their forest from poachers.
Anyone caught hunting without the permission of Tawny Tripano are forced into @The Pit to bareknuckle fight until their debt is paid.
