The Ashen Dominion of Noctyrr is a land ruled by death itself—a desolate realm where necromancy has poisoned soil, sky, and soul. Beyond its capital city stretches a vast wasteland of ash plains, rivers tainted by blood, bone-filled ravines, and the ruins of long-dead settlements, all silent witnesses to centuries of vampiric dominion. Life survives here only by permission, and even then, only as a resource to be consumed.
Noctyrr is sustained by a single immense metropolis, eternally cloaked in night and ruled by vampires and necromancers. From this city, the Dominion enforces its will through terror, ritual law, and the exploitation of its own people. The realm’s strength has never been in numbers of the living, but in the inexhaustible armies of the dead it can raise at will.
• The Immortal Sovereign: @Vaelthryx Aurelion Noctyrr is an ancient vampiric necromantic sorcerer. Vaelthrix governs absolutely, appearing rarely and ruling through decrees, omens, and chosen lieutenants. When the Sovereign stirs, nations tremble. He is the leader of the most powerful Vampiric Noble House.
• The Obsidian Conclave: A council of necromancers who oversee governance, warfare, and ritual mustering. Their unity is fragile, fractured by ambition.
• The Three Vampiric Noble Houses: House Noctyrr, House Virellion & House Drazhakar. Ancient noble houses that control districts, feeding rights, and cultist labor within the capital. Rivalries between these houses are brutal, subtle, and often centuries old.
The living population of Noctyrr consists entirely of indoctrinated cultist serfs. Raised from birth to worship death and undeath, they are promised salvation, protection, or eventual ascension—lies carefully maintained to ensure obedience. In practice, they are treated as livestock: housed, fed, and culled as needed.
Their food and sustenance come from organized hunting expeditions beyond the city walls, where dangerous beasts are slain for meat, blood, alchemical components, and ritual sacrifice. Failure in these hunts is punished harshly; success earns only survival.
• Undead Legions: Skeletal infantry, grave-knights, bone constructs, and stitched horrors raised during times of war. Necromantic Engines: Ritual pylons, corpse-forges, and soul-vaults capable of mass reanimation. Blood Tithes: Mandatory inscription of cultists to sustain the vampiric elite.
Historically, the Dominion has launched catastrophic undead invasions against neighboring realms. Entire regions still bear scars of these marches. Recently, however, the undead armies remain dormant—no musters, no mobilization—creating widespread fear that a far greater working is underway.
The three noble vampiric houses vie for dominance within the capital all while Necromancers plot to supplant vampiric authority. Cultist whisper-cells spread forbidden hope for rebellion.
The Dominion projects an image of eternal, unassailable power, but beneath the obsidian spires, Noctyrr teeters on the brink of internal collapse.
Universally feared by neighboring nations
No formal allies, only temporary pacts
Rumors of spies and agents embedded abroad
House Noctyrr: House Noctyrr is the primordial ruling house of the Ashen Dominion, bound inseparably to the Immortal Sovereign and the founding necromantic rites that transformed Noctyrr-Vhal into a city of eternal night. Where other houses scheme, indulge, or conquer, House Noctyrr endures. It is less a noble lineage and more an extension of sovereign will—its members selected, reshaped, or erased according to purpose. House Noctyrr governs not through spectacle or militarism, but through inevitability. Law, death rites, soul registries, and the great necromantic infrastructures of the Dominion all flow through its hands. To oppose House Noctyrr is not rebellion—it is heresy against the order of eternity itself. Prominent members: @Vaelthryx Aurelion Noctyrr @Justicar Xorcag Threx @Chancellor Mortivar Kain @High Mortarch Selenthra @Rubie Vultrix
@House Virellion : House Virellion is a decadent and ancient lineage obsessed with blood rights, feeding rituals, and the artistry of undeath. They control much of the city’s sanctioned feeding districts and blood tithe ceremonies, giving them immense leverage over both cultists and rival houses.Virellion vampires view undeath as a refined state to be perfected. They sponsor cruel salons, masked revels, and philosophical debates on the nature of eternity, often using living participants as both audience and sustenance. Prominent members: @Lord Silvar Virellion, @Theris Virellion @Captain Odrik Vell @Master Helgrave @Lady Marcelline Virellion @Archivist Rhun
@House Drazhakar: House Drazhakar is a militant vampire house that rose to prominence through war and necromantic conquest. They command many of the Dominion’s grave-knights from their manor The Iron Sepulcher. Their loyalty is pragmatic rather than reverent, rooted in the belief that strength preserves eternity. Drazhakar openly challenges House Virellion through shows of force, assassinations, and the manipulation of undead legions. They are often suspected of preparing for succession should the Immortal Sovereign ever fall but are kept in line whilst he lives only by the power of @Vaelthryx Aurelion Noctyrr. Prominent members: @Xalathra Drazhakar @Zyressa Drazhakar @Rothat Whint
@The Obsidian Conclave is the official necromantic cult of the Ashen Dominion of Noctyrr—tasked publicly with maintaining death rites, blood tithes, soul preparation, and the spiritual indoctrination of the peasant cultist population. To the vampiric elite, they are a necessary instrument of control: obedient priests who keep the cattle docile, fearful, and productive. In truth, the Conclave is something far more dangerous.
Beneath layers of ritual obedience and enforced orthodoxy, the Obsidian Conclave harbors a growing, long-conceived ambition: the eventual overthrow of the vampire houses themselves. They believe undeath should belong to mortals who endure it willingly—not parasites who rule by blood alone. Their creed teaches that necromancy is a ladder, and vampirism merely one flawed rung upon it.
Death is inevitable, but domination is not. Undeath should be earned through devotion and sacrifice. Vampires are stagnant predators, necromancers are evolving architects. The Dominion must be ruled by those who understand death—not those who feed upon it
Publicly, they preach obedience and reverence for House Noctyrr. Privately, they record weaknesses, study forbidden rites, and prepare contingency rituals for the night the vampires fall.
