The Gods of Colldria

Colldria being a continent on Toril, shares the same gods as other continents on the world such as Faerun. The world of Toril is defined by active divinity. Gods walk the world through avatars, empower mortals directly, feud openly, and sometimes die. Most people worship many gods situationally, while clergy and chosen champions devote themselves fully to one.

Prominent Gods in Colldria

Good & Civilization Gods

Mystra — Lady of Magic

Portfolio: Magic, the Weave
Alignment: Neutral Good

Expanded Notes:
Mystra is not merely a magic goddess—she is the regulator of magic. All arcane spellcasting passes through the Weave, her divine construct. When Mystra weakens or dies, magic becomes unstable, wild, or catastrophically dangerous.
She encourages magical innovation but enforces limits—especially against spells that threaten reality itself. Her Chosen (such as Elminster) wield Silver Fire and act as living anchors of the Weave.

Lathander — The Morninglord

Portfolio: Dawn, Renewal, Birth, Creativity
Alignment: Neutral Good

Expanded Notes:
Lathander embodies optimism, beginnings, and the belief that tomorrow can be better. His church supports rebuilding fallen cities, overthrowing corrupt traditions, and opposing stagnation. This idealism can border on arrogance—Lathanderites sometimes believe they know what the future should be.
He is especially hostile to undead, which represent defiance of natural rebirth.

Tyr — The Just God

Portfolio: Justice, Law, Righteous War
Alignment: Lawful Good

Expanded Notes:
Tyr represents justice above compassion. Law exists to protect the innocent, even when it is harsh or unpopular. His followers believe that mercy must never undermine justice. Tyr lost his hand battling evil and wears this sacrifice as proof that justice demands personal cost.

Torm — The Loyal Fury

Portfolio: Duty, Loyalty, Obedience, Sacrifice
Alignment: Lawful Good

Expanded Notes:
Torm teaches that duty is sacred—even unto death. He rewards obedience, steadfastness, and self-sacrifice. Unlike Tyr, Torm emphasizes service over judgment. His clergy are common among knightly orders and elite guards.

Ilmater — The Crying God

Portfolio: Endurance, Suffering, Martyrdom
Alignment: Lawful Good

Expanded Notes:
Ilmater suffers so others do not. His clergy take on pain, tend the sick, and willingly endure torture to spare innocents. He opposes cruelty, not violence—sometimes allowing evil to expose itself fully before intervening.

Chauntea — The Great Mother

Portfolio: Agriculture, Fertility, Growth
Alignment: Neutral Good

Expanded Notes:
Chauntea is the most widely worshiped god in Faerûn. Her faith is practical, gentle, and deeply rooted in daily survival. She values balance between civilization and nature and opposes reckless exploitation.

Selûne — Our Lady of Silver

Portfolio: Moon, Stars, Navigation, Hope
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Expanded Notes:
Selûne is an ancient goddess of light in darkness. Sailors, travelers, and outcasts pray to her for guidance. She opposes Shar absolutely, believing even in hope for the lost. Her followers are compassionate but stubbornly optimistic.

Sune — Lady Firehair

Portfolio: Love, Beauty, Passion
Alignment: Chaotic Good

Expanded Notes:
Sune celebrates beauty in all forms—physical, emotional, artistic. Her faith encourages self-expression and joy but opposes possessiveness and abuse. Love must be freely chosen.

Neutral & Knowledge Gods

Silvanus — Old Oak Father

Portfolio: Wild Nature, Balance
Alignment: True Neutral

Expanded Notes:
Silvanus is not kind—he is necessary. He represents untamed wilderness and the belief that nature must sometimes destroy to remain healthy. Civilization that spreads too far earns his wrath.

Mielikki — Lady of the Forest

Portfolio: Forests, Rangers
Alignment: Neutral Good

Expanded Notes:
Mielikki teaches coexistence with nature rather than dominance or isolation. She is the patron of rangers, travelers, and woodland defenders.

Tempus — Lord of Battles

Portfolio: War, Battle
Alignment: True Neutral

Expanded Notes:
Tempus cares not for cause—only courage and skill. He despises cowardice and treachery in battle but does not condemn war itself.

Oghma — Binder of What Is Known

Portfolio: Knowledge, Invention, Inspiration
Alignment: True Neutral

Expanded Notes:
Oghma values knowledge being recorded and shared. His temples function as libraries, schools, and neutral archives—even for dangerous truths.

Kelemvor — Lord of the Dead

Portfolio: Death, Afterlife
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Expanded Notes:
Kelemvor ensures the dead are judged fairly and without fear. He opposes undeath and necromancy that traps souls. His clergy are stern but compassionate. Kelemvor is extremely prevalent in @The Mortarchate of Ashur-Rem where worship of Kelemvor is paramount.

Dark & Evil Gods

Bane — The Black Hand

Portfolio: Tyranny, Fear
Alignment: Lawful Evil

Expanded Notes:
Bane teaches that order is born from domination. His followers seek control through law, terror, and hierarchy. He favors empires, secret police, and authoritarian rule.

Bhaal — Lord of Murder

Portfolio: Murder
Alignment: Neutral Evil

Expanded Notes:
Though dead, Bhaal’s legacy persists through cults and bloodlines. Murder, to Bhaal, is an act of worship—not chaos, but intentional killing.

Myrkul — Lord of Bones

Portfolio: Death, Decay
Alignment: Neutral Evil

Expanded Notes:
Myrkul rules through fear of death itself. His faith focuses on inevitability, rot, and despair.

Shar — Mistress of the Night

Portfolio: Darkness, Loss, Secrets
Alignment: Neutral Evil

Expanded Notes:
Shar embodies oblivion and the comfort of forgetting pain. She offers relief through emptiness, opposing Selûne’s hope. Her worship is subtle, seductive, and dangerous.

Lolth — Queen of Spiders

Portfolio: Deceit, Drow
Alignment: Chaotic Evil

Expanded Notes:
Lolth rules through betrayal. Drow society is deliberately cruel, ensuring only the ruthless survive. Loyalty is weakness unless enforced by fear.
