The Tripano Crime Family is a tightly bound criminal syndicate operating in the shadows of the Hearthbound Concord. While the Concord prides itself on openness and hospitality, the Tripanos thrive in the unseen spaces between roads, taverns, and wooded paths. They specialize in the discreet movement of contraband—illegal goods, forbidden texts, dangerous alchemy, stolen relics, and wanted individuals—into and out of the Concord, exploiting its reputation as a neutral and welcoming land.
The family’s power base lies in the town of Oakrest and the surrounding Oakbreath Woods, a dense forest that provides natural cover for hidden routes, stash sites, and ambush points. Though officially just another peaceful town of the Concord, Oakrest quietly answers to the Tripanos, either through loyalty, fear, or profit-sharing.
At the head of the family is @Tawny Tripano , a calculating and iron-willed leader who governs through personal loyalty, enforced respect, and absolute control of the family’s inner circle. Tawny maintains a careful balance—never openly defying the Hearth Guild, but constantly skirting its laws and exploiting its blind spots.
Whilst not technically a family, most inductees are born into the family or are otherwise required to fight in "The Pit" Bareknuckle fighting arena to prove their worth.
• The Boss @Tawny Tripano: Supreme authority within the family. All major smuggling routes, punishments, and alliances require her approval.
• Blooded Kin: Members born into the Tripano line. They are raised into the family business and often placed in leadership or logistics roles.
• Pit-Bound: Outsiders who earn membership through the family’s initiation rite—bareknuckle combat in The Pit. Survival and victory prove resolve.
• Runners & Cutters: Low-ranking operatives who move goods, scout roads, bribe officials, or enforce discipline.
• Intermediaries: Outsiders who operate semi-legitimate businesses for the family. Negotiators and arrangers who interface with foreign buyers, corrupt officials, and desperate clients whilst putting up the front of running a legitimate business owned by the family.
The Pit is a crude, outdoor fighting ring made of rough wooden fencing in the town of Oakrest. Prospective members must fight bareknuckle against a chosen opponent—often another initiate or a veteran looking to test them. There are no rules beyond submission or unconsciousness. Killing is rare but not forbidden. Those who endure are branded with a discreet Tripano mark on their forearms and welcomed as Pit-Bound.
• Publicly compliant with the Hearth Guild, privately antagonistic
• Exploits the Concord’s neutrality for criminal transit
• Maintains uneasy truces with Roadwarden Sheriffs
• Feared by smaller criminal outfits and bandit groups
Control of hidden woodland and back-road smuggling routes. Intimidation masked as neighborly familiarity. Bribery and blackmail of minor officials and traders. Violence delivered quietly and personally. Generational loyalty reinforced through blood and ritual.
