Seheron

Seheron, the largest island in Thedas, was a paradise claimed by Tevinter long before the Qunari first landed upon its shores. Upon their arrival the Qunari handily ousted the Tevinters and took the island for their own. Life in Seheron has been colored near constant conflict ever since.

Tevinter considers Seheron a disputed zone and continues to mount offensives to retake the island. Though it is technically Qunari territory, some native Seherons actively rebel against the Qun's authority. Complicating matters are significant pockets of Fog Warriors and Tal-Vashoth in the northern portion of the island, who consider both the Qunari and Imperium enemies.

Seheron Changes Hands

Seheron was home to an old and impressive Tevinter-ruled culture with architecture dating back to the glory days of the ancient Imperium. In 6:32 Steel, after taking Par Vollen, the Qunari landed in Seheron. After ten years, they had not only occupied the entire island, but a sizable portion of the mainland Imperium. The Qunari were pushed back and entrenched in Sheron. The subsequent Battle of the Nocen Sea was the largest naval engagement in history. It resulted in a stalemate with the destruction of many ships on both sides.

Two years latter, the New Exalted Marches were declared by both Tevinter's Imperial Chantry- to retake Seheron and the eastern city of Qarinus- and the Chantry- to retake Rivain. In all, three major Exalted Marches took place. By the end, there was no clear victor, and war persisted until 7:84 Storm, when the Qunari relinquished Seheron to the Imperium.

The people of Seheron spent generations rebuilding after the devastation wrought by so much war. Then, in 8:55 Blessed, the Qunari mounted yet another offensive to retake the island. The new war between the Qunari and the Tevinter Imperium lasted three years, and ended with the island falling back under Qunari control.

This war leveled much of Seheron's new infrastructure. As its people rebuilt, now in a manner befitting the Qun, large sections of the island remained outside of Qunari authority. Most Seherons not under Qunari domination grew to hate the Imperium as much as the Qunari, fed up as they were with the war brought by both sides and the terrible toll it took on the island.

Though the Qunari now struggle to convert and hold the rest of the island, many island inhabitants were all too happy to adopt the Qun over the oppression offered by the Imperium. Almost all of the large population of former elven slaves who live on Seheron now hold high roles within the Qunari occupying forces, helping the Qunari put down remaining resistance.

Fog Warriors

The native Seheron rebel forces have resorted to deadly stealth strikes against the Qunari; one group in particular has proven so effective that stories of its prowess have found their way off the island- though these are likely exaggerated. The rebels are known as Fog Warriors.

According to the tales, the Fog Warriors arrive silently amid a deep and unnatural fog that is assumed to be magical. Their armor and skin are painted a pale white to blend into their surroundings.

Stalking silently, the Fog Warriors strike their foes swiftly, killing multiple enemies before they are even aware an attack has been mounted.
