DESCRIPTION (for AI GM narration)
Drey draws in vast amounts of Qi and compresses it into his lungs until it becomes violently pressurized, the air around his chest vibrating with white-hot lunar density. He then releases a directed beam-like roar, a Kamehameha-style mouth blast resembling a Godzilla breath weapon: a straight-line torrent of brilliant lunar energy and concussive air pressure that scorches and detonates on impact.
MECHANICS
• Choose a point/direction in line of sight. All creatures in the 120-foot by 10-foot line must make a Dexterity saving throw.
• On a failed save: target takes 8d10 radiant + 4d10 force damage.
• On a successful save: target takes half damage.
SECONDARY EFFECTS (on failed save)
• Blinded (Brief Flare): Target is blinded until the start of its next turn (overwhelmed by the white-hot lunar flash).
• Knockback (Pressure Wave): If the target is Huge or smaller, it is pushed 10 feet directly away from the blast’s direction. If it collides with a solid object, it stops and takes an additional 2d6 bludgeoning damage.
CRITICAL INTERACTION (optional rule for AI GM)
If the attack roll is used instead of a save (GM preference), treat it as a ranged spell attack. On a critical hit:
• Double the radiant dice (8d10 → 16d10), and
• The target is knocked prone if Huge or smaller, and
• The blast leaves a “lunar burn” that prevents regeneration until the start of Drey’s next turn.
LIMITATIONS / DRAWBACKS
• Overpressure Strain: After using Lunar Nova Blast, Drey cannot use another breath/roar-style Qi technique until the end of his next turn.
• Energy Drain: Drey has disadvantage on Constitution checks/saves to maintain concentration until the start of his next turn (his core is still venting pressure).
• Loud and Bright: The blast is audible and visible from very far away; stealth is impossible immediately after use.
UPGRADES (optional scaling)
If Drey is level 15+ or the campaign is high-power:
• Increase line width to 15 feet OR increase range to 150 feet.
• Increase damage by +2d10 radiant.
NOTES FOR CONSISTENCY
This is the evolved form of “Explosive Roar”: instead of a shockwave burst around him, Drey compresses Qi into a directed, beam-like discharge for maximum range and penetration.
