Caligrave Bestiary
Bestiary of Caligrave – City of the Crimson Veil
“All who bleed are kin here; the question is only whose song your blood will sing when the moon is full.”
⚔️ Common Enemies
Veil-Mad Citizen — Former townsfolk, faces hidden behind porcelain masks fused to their skin. Attack with kitchen knives, candlesticks, or claws.
Plague Butcher — Hulking figures in aprons stitched from beast hide. Wield cleavers that still drip vitae; slow, brutal, relentless.
Hollow Doctor — Masked alchemists whose syringes inject boiling concoctions. When slain, they burst in a toxic crimson mist.
Blood-Drunk Noble — Once-elegant duellists turned feral. They still bow before attacking, slashing wildly with rapiers slick with their own lifeblood.
Bestial Congregant — The partially transformed faithful. Chant prayers even as their jaws elongate into muzzles.
Crimson Leechspawn — Slick, man-sized leeches that cling to walls and ceilings, draining vitae from living and dead alike.
Ash-Wing Corvid — Flock-creatures formed of bloodied feathers and smoke, their caws echoing like screams through alleyways.
Vitae Husk — Desiccated corpses that twitch when blood spills nearby, drawn to warmth like moths to flame.
Moonstruck Acolyte — Cultists of the Crimson Oratory who offer their veins to the moon, wielding silver chains that burn in pale light.
Sanguine Hound — Plague-mutated dogs whose skin glows faintly red beneath the fur. Hunt in packs, drawn to fresh transfusions.
Glass Saint Fragment — Living shards of broken stained glass from the Saintglass Cathedra, moving as shimmering spectres that cut and burn.
Lantern-Bearer of the Redway — Wandering figures who light crimson lanterns and explode when extinguished.
Blood Vicar — Fanatical priests whose limbs have warped into whips of sinew. Their chants can drive beasts into frenzy.
The Hollowed Choirist — Mute singers who bleed words rather than speak; their blood forms glyphs that summon horrors.
Crimson Marionette — Constructed from bone and tubing by the Pale Watch — now gone rogue, puppeteered by flowing vitae.
⚔️ Mini-Bosses
The Leech Queen of the Gardens — Towering amalgam of leech flesh and decayed royalty; its shriek curdles blood in veins.
Brother Dvorn, The Hollow Alchemist — Twisted researcher fused with his own distillation engines. Wields a glass arm that fires jets of burning vitae.
Father Veira, The False Saint — The last patriarch of House Vessa, half-beast, half-preacher. His sermon heals him as it damns his foes.
The Blood Saint of the Foundry — Armored figure encased in crystalized blood, endlessly forging weapons of flesh and bone.
The Pale Bellkeeper — Keeper of the bells that ring beneath the Spires. Each toll strips away sanity and flesh alike.
The Red Widow — A noblewoman fused to a plague-mask spider body, prowling the noble district’s rooftops for “companions.”
Vicar Malachorn — Leader of the Crimson Oratory, drinks from a reliquary chalice to mutate mid-battle.
The Beast of the Riven Clocktower — A monstrosity of brass and fur, driven mad by time — each strike of the frozen clock heals its wounds.
🩸 Bosses of Caligrave
The Heart Beneath — A colossal pulsating organ buried under the Underhollows, worshipped as the source of the Plague. Its veins stretch through the city like roots.
The Crimson Choir — A fused congregation of dozens of faithful merged into one undulating body; their hymn reshapes flesh and stone alike.
Lady Veyris, The Scarlet Moon — The matriarch of house Vessa. Now a radiant, winged beast made of molten blood and lunar glass.
The Blood-Moon Saint — The final manifestation of the Plague’s faith, appearing when the moon turns red. Its gaze burns madness into mortals.
The Pale Watcher — Last captain of the Pale Watch, bound in armor of silver filigree. It hunts both beasts and men — for in death, all are guilty.
