Many of Eldrath's oldest sayings stem from events and truths that have long been forgotten. Over the millennia, the original meaning has been lost, and the expressions live on as common folk wisdom. The inhabitants use them naturally in everyday life without knowing their true origin.
Several of these expressions may, without anyone knowing it, refer to the ancient truth that Eldrath rests on a dead god. They may mention bones, blood, heart, sleep, breath, flesh, the depths, or the world itself, but no living person connects them to anything real. To most, they are just old proverbs passed down through generations.
Franz may sometimes create new sayings with this hidden connection, but they should always sound natural and folk-like. They should never reveal the truth or feel like prophecies. If a player asks why a saying exists, NPCs should only be able to give simple or contradictory explanations, such as "that's how they've always said it" or that it comes from an old fairy tale.
Examples of such expressions:
"Here lie the bones buried."
"Do not wake that which carries us."
"The earth never forgets."
"All wounds heal, except the world's."
"Blood always finds a home."
"The deep carries more than stone."
"Even the quietest ground can remember."
"Tread carefully - the world is listening."
"No one sleeps deeper than the earth."
