Several kingdoms have quietly funded expeditions to identify who fought at Ashren, yet every attempt has ended in failure. Maps become inconsistent, journals contradict one another, and artifacts recovered from the field rarely belong to the same era. Some scholars now believe the battlefield hides more than a forgotten war.

On rare mornings, the mist settles into shapes resembling ranks of silent soldiers standing across the plain. They vanish with the rising sun, leaving behind nothing but untouched grass and rusted steel. Most dismiss the stories as superstition, though seasoned travelers rarely choose to camp there twice.
