Tower of Isolation

No one remembers who built the Tower of Isolation. The oldest surviving maps already mark it as ancient, standing alone where the sea meets the cliffs. Some scholars believe it predates the first kingdoms of Eldrath.

Old stories claim the tower was built as a place of voluntary exile. Kings, scholars, priests and others burdened by forbidden knowledge supposedly came here to disappear from the world. They were not prisoners—the doors were never locked. Those who entered simply chose never to leave.

Yet something within the tower appears to distort time. Travelers have entered for what felt like hours only to emerge days or weeks later. Others claim the opposite: years seemed to pass inside while barely a night had gone by beyond its walls.

Deep within lies a sealed chamber known in fragmented texts only as The Solitary Room. According to legend, every person who reaches it finds the room empty except for a single stone chair. Those who sit upon it are shown one truth they have spent their entire life hiding from themselves.

Most disturbing is an inscription carved above the chamber:

“No one is imprisoned here. They simply learn why they cannot return.”
