The Elves were the first to arrive upon Eryndal, when the continent was little more than endless forests and winding rivers. They did not conquer the land; they listened to it. Their earliest towns were grown rather than built, shaped to the curves of roots and stone, living in harmony with wind, water, and leaf.
In those ancient ages, the Elves thrived. But time brought war—first with the Dwarves, later with humankind. Though none of these conflicts ended in annihilation, they left deep scars upon both land and people. Towers fell. Groves burned. Paths once sung into being were forgotten.
Today, many elven settlements lie in ruin, half-swallowed by forest and moss. Vines coil through broken arches, and rivers run where streets once stood. Though the Elves now live in peace with most races, they are fewer than they once were, quieter, more distant.
