@Tharagos Ironmantle
Origin & Clan Tragedy
Deep within the ancient Everthorn Wilds, where colossal oaks entwine with veins of celestial quartz and mist-shrouded glades whisper forgotten hymns, the Ironmantle Clan of Firbolgs tended the sacred groves. Tharagos was whelped amid this harmony, his deep brown fur matted with dew from the first dawn, his eyes already flickering with an inner light that marked him as touched by higher powers. The clan revered the wilds as a living temple, their massive frames guardians against encroaching darkness.
Tragedy struck during the Night of Shattered Thorns. A cabal of void-tainted warlocks, seeking to corrupt the quartz veins for necrotic rituals, unleashed a blight that withered the groves and slaughtered the clan. Tharagos, barely into his prime, fought with raw fury, his paws crushing foes until shadows overwhelmed him. As the last Ironmantle fell, he lay broken amid the desolation, whispering pleas to the stars.
Rescue & Calling
Dawn broke with thunderous hoofbeats. The Order of the Celestial Aegis, a knightly brotherhood sworn to the Oath of Devotion, arrived led by Sir Elandor Dawnshield. These paladins, clad in radiant plate forged from starfallen metal, purged the warlocks with divine fire. Elandor found Tharagos clinging to life, his fur singed but spirit unbroken. "The light chooses its vessels without regard for form," Elandor declared, laying hands upon him. Divine energy surged, mending flesh and igniting Tharagos's latent faith. He rose not as a beast of the wild, but a warrior reborn.
Training & Oath
Inducted into the Order's fortress-monastery, Aegis Hold, Tharagos endured trials that tested body and soul. His towering frame, broad and unyielding, was forged into a bastion: endless drills in gilded full plate engraved with celestial motifs, wielding the massive Great Warhammer of Devotion—a relic hammer that hummed with holy resonance. He learned to channel divine smite through crushing blows, Lay on Hands to shield allies, and Channel Divinity to turn the tide against evil.
At his vigil atop the Pinnacle of Resolve, Tharagos swore the Oath of Devotion: "I vow to protect the innocent, judge the wicked, and stand as an unbreakable mantle against darkness." His eyes glowed eternally thereafter, a beacon of unyielding conviction.
Current Path
Now, Tharagos strides into the world from The Grand Keep (Main Hall), a bastion of light amid encroaching shadows. Clad in gold-and-azure tabard over his armor, warhammer slung across his back, he embodies the Order's creed. He seeks remnants of the void cabal, protecting villages from their blight and rallying the faithful. Yet whispers of a greater threat—a Void Eclipse foretold to shroud the wilds—draw him forth.
Personality & Inner Conflict
Tharagos is the epitome of lawful good: unshakable conviction forged into duty. He speaks with dignified authority, words weighted like his hammer, inspiring hope in the meek and dread in the corrupt. Evil is not debated—it is judged and smitten. Beneath this resolve lingers the wilds' echo: a primal urge to rage unchecked, tamed only by his oath. He grapples with mercy for the redeemable wicked, his faith demanding balance between justice and compassion.
