Ice and Lava
Long before the present struggles, Eryndor was shaped by two cataclysms that scarred the land and defined entire peoples.
❄️ The Frostvile Cataclysm
Era: Late Age of Dawn, millennia before the Age of Crowns.
Event: The northern lands of Eryndor were once green valleys and pine forests. But when Aetherion (Primordial of Spirit & Magic) retreated into the spirit realm, he left behind a rift of wild magic.
From it burst the Winterbound Curse—eternal winds that froze the north into a wasteland of ice.
Those trapped within this transformation endured and adapted, becoming the Frostvile Berserkers—a people hardened by endless blizzards, who embraced the curse as divine trial and strength.
Impact: The north became isolated and hostile. Frostvile culture turned into a survivalist warrior society.
🌋 The Ashenfire Peaks Eruption
Era: Early Age of Crowns, as kingdoms began to rise.
Event: Ashenfire Peaks, a massive volcano in the east, was believed to be the resting place of Umbros (Primordial of Shadow).
When the Stoneheart Dwarves mined too deep, they awakened slumbering embers—fragments of Umbros’ essence.
The mountain erupted violently, burying valleys in fire and ash, spawning twisted creatures, and poisoning the skies.
Yet within the molten rock formed rare metals and arcane crystals. To the dwarves, this was both curse and blessing: they lost clans, but gained power for unmatched rune-forging.
Impact: Created a dangerous volcanic wasteland crawling with monsters. Made the Stoneheart Clans more insular and distrustful of outsiders. Sparked lasting conflict with the Sylvara Concord, whose forests were scarred by falling ash.
