"When darkness claimed the kingdoms of Eyr, one city chose to answer not with fear, but with light." — The Book of the Four Sisters
Moonveil is the second-largest city in Eyr and the domain of Vesper, the youngest of the Four Sisters. Hidden among the flowering meadows and gentle hills of southern Eyr, Moonveil has long been known as the City of Silver Blossoms, a place where music, art, diplomacy, and compassion flourish.
While Blackhat stands as a monument to fear and power, Moonveil was built upon trust and unity. Its gates are always open, its markets welcome every race, and its people believe that kindness is not weakness but one of the greatest strengths a person can possess.
Yet Moonveil is no ordinary city. Every stone, tree, and stream is touched by ancient magic, making it one of the most enchanting places in all of Eyr.
Centuries ago, after the Four Sisters parted ways, Vesper wandered the southern meadows searching for a place untouched by war.
She found a peaceful valley where wildflowers bloomed in every season and a crystal spring flowed from beneath an ancient hill. There she gathered artists, healers, craftsmen, scholars, and those who had fled the endless conflicts of Eyr.
Together they built Moonveil.
No walls surrounded the city.
No armies claimed its streets.
Instead, Vesper wove powerful enchantments into the land itself. These wards protected the city not through violence, but by calming hatred, clouding the minds of invaders, and guiding lost travelers away from danger.
The city has endured for centuries without ever falling to siege.
Moonveil was built to celebrate life.
White marble buildings rise among flowering gardens, crystal streams wind through every district, and elegant bridges connect quiet plazas filled with music and laughter.
Floating lanterns illuminate the streets each evening, while enchanted trees blossom throughout the year regardless of season.
The people believe beauty has power.
A beautiful city inspires beautiful hearts.
Unlike the Witch Mother, Vesper does not rule through fear or absolute authority.
She walks openly among her people, visits markets without guards, and is known to share meals with farmers, musicians, and children alike.
Many citizens have spoken with Vesper.
Very few realize she quietly remembers every face and every conversation.
Though gentle and compassionate, she is no fool. Assassins, spies, and criminals who threaten Moonveil often disappear without anyone discovering how.
The city has defenders.
Most people simply never see them.
The magic protecting Moonveil is called The Silver Veil.
Created by Vesper herself, it surrounds the city like an invisible embrace.
Those entering with peaceful intentions find the city welcoming and vibrant.
Those consumed by hatred often lose their sense of direction, forget why they came, or find themselves leaving the city without remembering how.
The enchantment cannot control minds.
It simply strengthens the best parts of a person's heart.
The people of Moonveil honor all Four Sisters but believe each represents a different lesson.
The Witch Mother reminds them that death comes for everyone.
Thistle teaches respect for nature.
Nyx teaches that knowledge should always be pursued wisely.
Vesper teaches that hope must never be abandoned.
Unlike many parts of Eyr, no sister is worshipped above the others.
Balance is considered sacred.
Few outside the city know that Moonveil was deliberately built atop one of the oldest sanctuaries of the First Civilization.
Deep beneath the city lies The Hall of Hearts, where rests the Mirror of Souls, an ancient relic capable of revealing a person's true nature without deception or illusion.
Vesper visits the Mirror every year.
Not because she fears others.
Because she fears herself.
She has watched her sisters slowly change over centuries.
She knows that power can corrupt even the kindest heart.
Each year she asks the Mirror the same question:
"Am I still worthy to protect this city?"
So far...
The Mirror has never turned dark.
An ancient inscription hidden beneath Moonveil reads:
"When hope becomes the final light...
When beauty stands against despair...
When the youngest sister chooses between love and duty...
The fate of Eyr shall be decided."
No scholar has ever agreed on its meaning.
Vesper has never spoken of it.
But every year, on the longest night of winter, she stands alone upon Moonbloom Manor's highest balcony, looking north toward Blackhat—as though waiting for a choice that only she can make.
