Long before Blackhat was founded and before the Four Sisters became the most powerful witches in Eyr, there was Eldermoor.
Deep within an ancient valley south of Bramblebrook stands a circle of twenty-four colossal standing stones, each carved from a single block of black granite. Time has worn away many of the carvings, yet glowing runes still emerge beneath the light of the full moon.
The Stone Circle is believed to be the oldest sacred site in Eyr, created by an unknown civilization thousands of years before humans arrived. Druids, scholars, and witches all agree on one thing—it is a place where the magical currents of Eyr converge. Invisible ley lines cross beneath the circle, making it one of the most magically potent locations in the land.
According to The Book of the Four Sisters, this was where the four young sisters first pledged themselves to the protection of Eyr.
They swore that each would master a different path of magic:
The Witch Mother would understand Death.
Thistle would protect Life.
Nyx would seek Knowledge.
Vesper would preserve Hope.
Standing together beneath the ancient stones, they placed their hands upon the central altar and bound themselves with an oath that no witch had ever spoken before.
For centuries, the circle became their meeting place, where they studied forgotten magic and uncovered relics left behind by the First Civilization.
Everything changed when the Witch Mother discovered forbidden necromancy beneath the altar. Whatever she found there began the journey that would eventually lead her to rule Blackhat and seek the Demon Amulet.
The sisters have never stood together within Eldermoor since.
Each of the twenty-four stones represents one of the ancient lunar cycles observed by the first druids of Eyr. During certain celestial events, faint beams of moonlight connect the stones, creating magical pathways that briefly reveal hidden chambers beneath the circle.
Ancient runes cover every surface, but only fragments have ever been translated.
Some believe the stones are not merely monuments.
They are prison seals.
At the center rests a cracked altar of polished black stone.
Those who place both hands upon it during a full moon often experience visions:
Forgotten battles.
Ancient cities.
The Four Sisters as children.
A massive shadow imprisoned beneath the earth.
An enormous crimson eye staring back.
No two visions are ever exactly alike.
Eldermoor is protected by powerful magic.
The forest itself resists those who enter with evil intent.
Treants patrol the woods.
Ancient spirits drift between the stones.
Will-o'-wisps lure greedy adventurers away from the paths.
Giant spiders have woven their webs among the surrounding trees, while giant serpents nest beneath the nearby marshes.
Even the goblins of Mosscrag Camp refuse to enter the circle after sunset.
Unknown to almost everyone in Eyr, the Stone Circle is more than a place of worship.
It is one of four ancient seals built by the First Civilization to imprison a primordial demon long before recorded history.
The Demon Amulet was forged as the master key to those seals.
If all four seals are broken, nothing will prevent the demon from returning to Eyr.
The Witch Mother believes she can control the creature.
The ancient runes carved into Eldermoor tell a different story.
"No mortal commands the First Darkness.
They merely choose who dies first."
For young adventurers, Eldermoor is a place of mystery and danger, serving as the perfect Level 1–6 adventure region. Here they may battle giant spiders, restless undead, goblin raiders, enchanted beasts, and ancient spirits, while slowly uncovering the forgotten history of Eyr and the terrible secret that binds the Four Sisters together.
