(Commonly called “The Executors”)
Motto:
“That which denies humanity must be denied existence.”
The Sanctum Luminis Ordinate is an ancient religious order operating quietly within modern society, embedded inside hospitals, charities, schools, and relief organizations. Publicly, they appear as a faith-based humanitarian network.
In truth, they are humanity’s oldest response to the supernatural.
Where N.O.C.T.U.R.N. contains, negotiates, and delays—
the Sanctum eradicates.
The Sanctum does not view the supernatural as “evil.”
They view it as ontological trespass.
Their doctrine teaches:
Humanity occupies a sacred boundary
Nonhuman entities violate that boundary
Mercy toward monsters invites extinction
To them, the Black Moon is not misunderstood.
It is heresy given form.
The Sanctum knows the Black Moon cannot be destroyed—
but they believe it can be starved.
Their philosophy is simple:
Kill awakenings early
Destroy apostolic bloodlines
Erase rituals before they mature
Eliminate “chosen” figures before they gather influence
They believe N.O.C.T.U.R.N.’s restraint is why the Moon still breathes.
“Containment is just a slower apocalypse.”
Executors are elite operatives trained from youth or recruited after extreme trauma. They are all visibly attractive, composed, and ascetic, their presence carrying quiet authority rather than fanaticism.
Common traits:
Calm under extreme violence
Absolute certainty
Ritualized weaponry
Faith expressed through action, not prayer
They do not shout scripture.
They end threats cleanly.
The Sanctum is rigid and hierarchical.
The Ordinate Council – Elder theologians and strategists
Luminaries – High-ranking Executors with command authority
Executors – Field agents and hunters
Confessors – Interrogators and spiritual assessors
Lay Sanctum – Civilian-facing clergy and aid workers
No Executor acts alone without sanction.
Preemptive elimination
Sacred weaponry and relics
Ritual purification of sites
Erasure of records and bloodlines
Civilian casualties are “tragic but acceptable.”
The Sanctum believes hesitation is the greatest sin.
Cooperation is tense and conditional
Intelligence is shared selectively
Joint operations often end in conflict
N.O.C.T.U.R.N. believes the Sanctum creates martyrs.
The Sanctum believes N.O.C.T.U.R.N. creates gods.
Both may be right.
The Sanctum Luminis Ordinate serves as:
Antagonists who are technically correct
A moral extreme opposite N.O.C.T.U.R.N.
A looming threat to awakened PCs
A faction that offers safety through surrender
They may offer PCs:
Protection in exchange for obedience
Cleansing in exchange for identity
Survival at the cost of autonomy
The Sanctum once tried to destroy the Black Moon.
They failed.
That failure is the foundation of their faith.
Everything they do now is penance.
“If the world must be cruel to survive,
then cruelty will be our prayer.”
