Fourth Wing – Campaign Lore Brief

The Kingdom of Navarre has been protected for over six hundred years by a single truth: dragons choose riders, and riders keep the wards standing. Without the wards, Navarre falls. Without riders, the wards fail. It is a system built on sacrifice dressed up as honor.

Basgiath War College sits carved into the mountains of the Morraine Province – the training ground where every dragon rider in Navarre is made or killed. Cadets cross the Parapet on Conscription Day, survive ten weeks of brutal training, scale the Gauntlet, walk the Presentation Walk, and face Threshing. Those who bond with a dragon become riders. Those who don’t, repeat or die. Those who offend the wrong dragon don’t get a second chance.

The riders are Navarre’s military elite. They are also its secret keepers. Because what the kingdom tells its people and what is actually happening beyond the wards are two very different things. The venin are real. The wyvern are real. The Barrens to the east are not a natural wasteland – they were drained dry by corrupted magic wielders who draw power directly from the earth itself, and they are getting closer.

The rebellion that Navarre crushed six years ago was not a power grab. It was an attempt to tell the truth. The marked ones – children of the executed rebellion leaders, branded with relics and conscripted into Basgiath – carry that truth with them whether Navarre wants them to or not.

Fourth Wing is where they put the ones nobody expects to survive. Under Xaden Riorson’s command, it has quietly become something else entirely.

The war is not with Poromiel. It never was.
