Banes
Banes are foul spirits in service to the destructive cosmological force known as the @Wyrm.
Banes are spiritual manifestations of the Wyrm’s countless faces — corruption, decay, violence, disease, greed, and despair. Each Bane embodies a destructive concept, twisting its form and essence to suit its patron aspect. While some are monstrous and hideous, others are seductively beautiful, appearing as saviors, muses, or wounded innocents to lure mortals into ruin. Many Banes were once neutral or even benevolent spirits, warped by the Wyrm’s influence until their original purpose was lost or perverted. They thrive in places where the Gaian balance is broken — polluted rivers, war zones, toxic factories, or spiritually blighted cities. In the Umbra, Banes move freely, feeding on negative resonance and growing in power. In the material world, they require a host to act: human, animal, or otherwise. Some act subtly, whispering into dreams, planting ideas, or exploiting emotional wounds; others are direct, overwhelming their hosts in fits of violence or madness. To the Garou, Banes are the spiritual infection that heralds the Apocalypse — a reminder that the Wyrm’s war is fought not only in flesh, but in the soul.
