Black Furies

The Vengeance of the Wild

The Black Furies are the embodiment of justice and righteous rage. They are a tribe dedicated to tearing down obstacles and confronting injustice, especially when it is perpetrated by the powerful against the vulnerable. Their name is no accident; they are known for their unwavering ferocity and a willingness to escalate a conflict to its most violent conclusion, believing that compromise is just a half-measure that only serves the corrupt.

To a Black Fury, the world is a deeply unfair place, and those who benefit from that unfairness are the most despicable of all. This conviction drives them to the forefront of meaningful conflicts, both public and hidden. They are drawn to issues like police brutality, wage inequality, and environmental destruction. They see these as a direct reflection of a broken system and a world that has strayed far from Gaia’s will.

However, their relentless pursuit of justice can be a perilous path. Their empathy for the marginalized can quickly curdle into disdain, and their righteousness can twist into pure hatred. A Black Fury can easily become consumed by their own crusades, seeking out enemies where none truly exist. In their most extreme forms, they become accelerationists, believing that the only way to "fix" the world is to destroy it so that a new one can rise from the ashes. Why simply protest a polluting crypto farm when you can just burn it to the ground?

The Patron Spirit of the Black Furies is Gorgon, a powerful spirit who was unjustly wronged. This spiritual bond fuels their drive to punish those in positions of systemic power. For a Black Fury, not acting against a perceived abuse of power is an act of neglect. Their loyalty to Gorgon is measured in their willingness to eliminate barriers and punish those who create them. A Black Fury can gain favor from their Patron by opposing or circumventing a powerful person or institution, gaining a bonus die on their attempts. However, they are under a strict Ban from Gorgon: they cannot allow an injustice they could have prevented to persist. To do so means they can only recover a single Willpower at the start of the next game session, a powerful spiritual consequence for their failure.

The Black Furies, now open to all, continue to be a force of righteous fury. Whether a pack’s Most Wanted member is a public activist who now acts with fangs and claws, an EMT who believes in getting people "back in the fight," a Musician who channels their Rage into blistering choruses and violent action, or an Outrider who prowls the borders of a territory, they all share a singular purpose. They are the vengeance of the wild, and they will tear down the unjust with a fury that even other Garou find terrifying.
